ABOUT THE ROLE

CountryPlace Mortgage, a leading nationwide personal property and mortgage lender headquartered in Plano, TX, is seeking an entry level Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This in-person role, based in our Plano, TX office, offers an exciting opportunity for an individual to develop analytical skills in a high-impact environment. The Staff Accountant is a key component of CountryPlace’s accounting team, who together ensure that the accounting books and records are appropriately maintained in addition to supporting CountryPlace’s loan origination and servicing operations. The accounting team works directly with the external auditors and financial reporting to ensure GAAP and SEC compliance. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Processes chattel loan fundings with timeliness and accuracy, including: detailed review of draw sheets, setup of wire transfers, reviewing and activating loans in the servicing system, and entry of cash disbursement journal entries in the general ledger
  • Prepares monthly accounting journal entries within established timelines in the following areas: chattel loan sales, chattel funding disbursements, ACH refunds, servicer remittances, appraisal deposits, commercial servicing fees, internal cost of funds, interest earnings on cash, and others as assigned
  • Manages ERP vendor setup for all CountryPlace Mortgage, ensuring compliance with policies pertaining to annual form 1099 distribution
  • Reconciles non-complex balance sheet accounts within established timeframes, including: accounts payable, insurance claims payable, and others as assigned
  • Reviews monthly bank detail to ensure all cash disbursements have been recorded in the general ledger
  • Provides detailed analyses and explanations of transactions as assigned
  • Prepares documentation for and interact with internal and external auditors
  • Daily entry of wire transfers in the online banking portal
  • Daily handling of mail and printed checks
  • Consistently meets and exceeds individual, team and department objectives
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
