IT Systems Administrator

Location: Riverside, CA
Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000

Position Summary

The IT Systems Administrator will provide hands-on Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 technical support while also supporting the company’s server, cloud, network, and backup infrastructure.
This position will serve as the technical escalation point between the IT Analyst and IT Manager. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working directly with employees on laptop, software, and connectivity issues while also maintaining Windows Server 2025 physical and virtual servers, Microsoft Hyper-V, and a hybrid Microsoft 365 environment.
This is a hands-on role. The successful candidate must be equally willing to troubleshoot an employee laptop, build and deploy a new computer, resolve routine helpdesk tickets, administer a Windows server, and support infrastructure-related projects.
Key Responsibilities:
End-User and Desktop Support
  • Provide Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 technical support for employees across the organization.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, connectivity, printing, peripheral, and application issues.
  • Build, configure, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows 10 and Windows 11 laptops.
  • Perform laptop replacements, upgrades, imaging, software installation, patching, user profile migration, and equipment swaps.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, device preparation, application access, and equipment recovery.
  • Provide remote and in-person technical support and maintain accurate ticket documentation.
  • Assist with routine Tier 1 work during high-volume periods, absences, urgent issues, and onsite support needs.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for the IT Analyst and provide technical guidance and cross-training.
Microsoft 365 and Identity Administration
  • Support and administer a hybrid Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Manage user accounts, groups, licenses, permissions, shared mailboxes, and access requests.
  • Support Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Group Policy, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and related Microsoft 365 services.
  • Troubleshoot authentication, synchronization, permissions, email, and Microsoft application issues.
  • Assist with access controls, multifactor authentication, account security, and employee lifecycle management.
Server and Virtual Infrastructure Administration
  • Maintain and support Windows Server 2025 physical and virtual servers.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft Hyper-V hosts and virtual machines.
  • Monitor server performance, capacity, availability, patching, event logs, storage, and system health.
  • Support server builds, upgrades, migrations, maintenance, and retirement activities.
  • Assist with Active Directory, Group Policy, file services, print services, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Maintain technical documentation for servers, applications, configurations, and recovery procedures.
Infrastructure and Operational Support
  • Support the administration and troubleshooting of network, wireless, firewall, VPN, voice, and remote-access systems.
  • Assist with backup monitoring, administration, recovery testing, and restoration activities.
  • Support infrastructure improvement projects, system implementations, patching, and security remediation activities.
  • Monitor system alerts and respond to infrastructure-related incidents.
  • Work with third-party vendors and service providers when escalation or specialized support is required.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance activities and occasional after-hours support for business-critical systems.
  • Reduce single points of failure through documentation, cross-training, and knowledge sharing.

Position Requirements:
  • Three or more years of professional experience providing desktop, end-user, and systems support in a business environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience supporting employee laptops and resolving desktop support issues.
  • Experience building, configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting Windows 10 and Windows 11 laptops.
  • Experience supporting a hybrid Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, and Group Policy.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Windows Server physical and virtual servers, including Windows Server 2025 or a closely related current version.
  • Experience administering or supporting Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, authentication, network connectivity, and application issues.
  • Understanding of IT security fundamentals, including patching, account access, multifactor authentication, endpoint protection, and least-privilege practices.
  • Strong customer-service skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to nontechnical employees.
  • Ability to independently prioritize incidents, service requests, routine support work, and infrastructure responsibilities.
  • Ability to document systems, procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with RingCentral or another enterprise VoIP platform.
  • Experience supporting Cisco or Cisco Meraki networking equipment.
  • Experience with switches, wireless access points, firewalls, VLANs, and VPN connectivity.
  • Experience administering or supporting Unitrends backup systems.
  • Experience monitoring backup jobs, troubleshooting failures, and assisting with file or server restoration.
  • Experience using TeamViewer or a similar remote-support platform.
  • Familiarity with DNS and DHCP administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, warehouse, or production environments.
  • Experience supporting approximately 200 or more users in a growing organization.
  • Relevant Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, or other industry certifications.
