Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Music Practitioner or graduate of a program focused on music as an intervention for health and wellness
  • Must be Board Certified as a Music Therapist by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
  • Musical intelligence and mastery of at least one instrument
  • Understanding of hospice philosophy and comfort providing specialized care to the terminally ill
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow all safety rules and regulations (Vulnerable Adult/Abuse Policy, HIPAA, Resident Rights, Universal Precaution, AWAIR, OSHA, Right to Know)
  • Valid Driver’s license
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and assist patients in music therapy interventions
  • Reduce symptoms like anxiety, depression, isolation, agitation, etc. through music
  • Educate the clinical team on music therapy appropriateness and contraindications
  • Maintain accurate records (clinical notes, charts, coordination notes) within 24 hours of sessions and update as needed
