We are seeking a Copyright Compliance Specialist to join our team! The Copyright Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the organization's compliance with intellectual property law, specifically focusing on the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"). This role will primarily involve managing and responding to DMCA takedown notices, investigating alleged copyright infringement, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to protect intellectual property.
Base pay range: $65,000 - $80,000 (based on relevant experience).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Process incoming DMCA takedown notices by reviewing them for compliance with DMCA requirements, assessing the legitimacy of claims, identifying responsible parties, removing or disabling access to identified content, and sending necessary communications.
  • Communicate with identified infringers, coordinate with internal teams, and provide guidance on copyright compliance.
  • Handle counter-notifications and disputes according to DMCA procedures, including assessing validity, communicating with parties, and facilitating resolution.
  • Maintain records of DMCA notices and infringement cases, including enforcement actions and repeat infringer activity.
  • Report on trends, recurring issues, operational risks, and repeat infringer concerns to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular audits of daily operations and identify opportunities for improvement and/or automation.
  • Manage the implementation and documentation of any procedural changes.
Required Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, with a focus on maintaining thorough records.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, follow through, and adapt to evolving needs.
  • Familiarity with digital environments and the ability to work across various tooling and technology platforms.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience with DMCA and trademark takedowns, IP infringement monitoring, and IP rights enforcement.
  • Strong understanding of DMCA, copyright laws, and intellectual property rights.
