Job Description
AECOM is seeking an experienced and motivated full-time Human Health and/or Ecological Risk Assessor to become an integrated member of AECOM's risk assessment and remediation practices. The candidate will work primarily with the Germantown, MD risk assessment team as well as assist other risk teams in the U.S. and globally. The candidate will perform both small- and large-scale risk assessments for federal and commercial/industrial clients in accordance with CERCLA, RCRA, and state level risk assessment guidance. The physical location of the position is negotiable. The employee will report to the Germantown, MD office; but may be full-time in office, full-time remote, or hybrid, depending on the candidate. The candidate is expected to begin immediately.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting a wide range of projects for private and government clients throughout the U.S. (and internationally).
  • Performing human health risk assessments in accordance with regulatory guidance and project-specific work plans.
  • Developing Risk Assessment Work Plans and contributing to Sampling and Analysis Plans/Quality Assurance Project Plans.
  • Successfully coordinating with internal project teams, including delegating to junior staff.
  • Preparing technical deliverables; including writing reports and performing/reviewing risk assessment calculations using R software.
  • Maintaining knowledge of federal and state regulations/guidance documents for conducting risk assessments.
  • Maintaining work quality, quantity, and efficiency at or above company standards.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree plus four years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.
  • Successful candidate will have to pass a background and motor vehicle records check.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Environmental Science/Studies, Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology, Public Health, Environmental Health or other related area
  • Experience evaluating PFAS, PCBs, and lead.
  • Experience performing human health risk assessments in an environmental consulting setting.
  • Experience with environmental statistics (e.g., USEPA ProUCL)
  • Experience working on Department of Defense projects.
  • Strong experience with running R software
  • Applied knowledge of USEPA Risk Assessment Guidance for Superfund (RAGS).
  • Experience conducting vapor intrusion assessments.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
