Responsibilities

As a Mid Level Project Engineer, you will be part of a missionfocused team supporting critical Army missions at Fort Huachuca. In this role, you will assist with cybersecurity operations, enterprise IT support, operational engineering, and field services that directly contribute to the security and reliability of Army systems.

You will gain handson experience supporting realworld missions, working alongside experienced engineers and cybersecurity professionals while learning DoD IT service management, cybersecurity compliance, and operational best practices. This position is designed to help you build a strong technical foundation and grow into higherlevel roles supporting Army readiness and mission success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support project leadership and independently lead portions of missioncritical projects, coordinating technical and functional resources, while supporting Senior personnel in overall project and program execution
  • Project management support for AI/MLenabled and IT modernization initiatives, including managing assigned workstreams, tracking schedules and dependencies, and coordinating deliverables across data, platform, and infrastructure teams under the direction of a Senior Project Manager
  • Assist with cybersecurity, operations, engineering, and field services supporting Army missions at Fort Huachuca
  • Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) and cybersecurity compliance activities, including documentation development, artifact maintenance, continuous monitoring support, and security control validation under supervision
  • Provide Tier I and Tier II operational support, including incident response, service request fulfillment, troubleshooting, and routine system maintenance in accordance with established SLAs and procedures
  • Assist with STIG compliance, vulnerability scanning (e.g., ACAS), patching, and system hardening, escalating issues as appropriate and tracking remediation status
  • Participate in change, configuration, and release management (CCRM) activities, including documentation updates, testing support, and coordination of approved changes
  • Support operational engineering and sustainment tasks, including system baseline updates, testing in controlled environments, and lifecycle support activities
  • Assist with technical documentation and reporting, including SOPs, system diagrams, build guides, afteraction reports (AARs), and knowledge base updates using Governmentprovided templates and repositories
  • Support onsite and remote field services, including system installations, Move/Add/Change activities, inventory updates, and coordination with senior staff and government stakeholders
  • Utilize Government ticketing systems, dashboards, and collaboration tools to track work, update status, and support operational reporting requirements
  • Complete required DoD cybersecurity, IA, IT service management, and security training, and apply ITILbased best practices for incident, problem, and change management
  • Work as part of a crossfunctional team, learning from senior engineers and cybersecurity professionals while developing skills to support future growth into intermediate and senior roles
Qualifications

 

Qualifications:

  • Active Secret clearance (or ability to obtain)
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field (Relevant military training or experience may substitute)
  • 8-12 years experience in IT, cyber, networking, systems administration, or field services
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a DoD operational environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior military service or internship experience at Fort Huachuca
  • Entry-level DoD 8570 certifications (e.g., Security+, Network+, CE certifications)
  • Familiarity with Windows, Linux, virtualization, or networking fundamentals
  • Interest in cybersecurity, operations, engineering, or enterprise IT support

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to move between buildings and facilities
  • Limited travel as mission requires
