Job Description

The AECOM Phoenix, Arizona office is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join our Geo-Civil team. Our strong presence in the region opens the doors to significant and interesting projects in the mining, dams, and power sectors. In this role, there is opportunity to grow technical and non-technical skills alongside a team of seasoned professionals while being given ownership that will stretch your potential.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered and identifies discrepancies in results
  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision
  • Undertake preliminary and detailed design activities
  • Ensure designs are in accordance with company and client production and design standards
  • Prepare engineering related calculations and create estimates
  • Review of quantity and cost estimates for completeness and accuracy
  • Prepare technical memoranda, preliminary, detailed design reports, and technical specifications
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D on a daily basis to prepare design models, drawings, plans, sections, details, profiles/sections, and develop visual aids
  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
  • Oversee and direct data collection and analysis activities
  • Develop engineering design skills through periodic field experience. This may include construction support, site inspections, and geotechnical investigations
  • Provide construction support from the office by adapting designs to field conditions
  • Work as part of a team to complete assignments

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid US Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong technical progression within Civil Engineering and Design
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Ability to travel
  • 4+ years experience
  • EIT Certification is strongly preferred
  • PE preferred

Additional Information

  • Relocation is not available for this role.
  • Sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Occasional project site travel (up to 20%) may be required for this position.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $75000 to $110000.
