Job description

Purpose of the Position

To provide accurate, efficient, and timely receiving of all materials in and out of the Company's facilities to ensure customer satisfaction.

Job Type: Full-Time Permanent

Job Location: Kitchener, ON (Onsite)

This is an entry-level role in our Operations department. 

Responsibilities

Responsible for scheduling and controlling shipments to customers or distributors.

Ensuring adequate and timely transport of all shipments.

Works closely with the Shipping/Receiving team and the Logistics Manager to receive daily instructions on shipment and packaging priorities.

Responsible for receiving and checking incoming materials.

Responsible for picking and tracking packages and orders.

Unpack boxes, verify billing and tracking documents, report any short ship orders, sign adequate shipping documents

Responsible for packaging all packages appropriately and to Company specifications.

Maintain a tidy working area to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with the Company's Health and Safety Policy and procedures.

Assist with Inventory counts when required.

May perform other distribution-related projects and tasks as required.

Education and Related Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Prior experience working in a warehouse and/or shipping and receiving environment is an asset. Must be detail oriented.

Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. and work with other teams and priorities.

Details of the Position

Problem Solving/Judgement and Decision Making: 

Works on shipping and receiving assignments that are routine in nature. Follows established processes and procedures. Issues that may arise on a regular basis will be deferred to the Manager, Logistics.

Supervision Received: 

Primary reporting relationship is typically to the Manager, Logistics. Assignments are performed under general supervision, normally receiving instructions on routine work and new assignments.

Supervision Exercised: 

Has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance to less experienced employees in the department or functional area.

Internal and External Contacts: 

Routinely interacts with other team members in the Logistics team and the Senior Director, Operations. Contacts are intermittent with non-management and management staff in Accounting, Client Services, and Marketing for routine assignments. Regularly interacts with vendors involved in the Distribution process.

Health & Safety - Personal Protective Equipment:  

Protective equipment may be required or recommended based upon the area of focus or task.

Mandatory or recommended equipment: Safety shoes when working with machinery in warehouse, gloves and safety eyewear when working with receiving chemicals

Risk factors within the position include but may not be limited to the following:

Pallet stacker, pump trucks, ladders, exposure to liquid lacquer, liquid resin and alcohol splash / spill
