What is an entry level hybrid analyst?

Entry level hybrid analysts are professionals who support business or technical teams by analyzing data, processes, or systems, often blending responsibilities from different fields such as business analysis, data analysis, or IT. The 'hybrid' aspect means they work across multiple domains, adapting to varied tasks and collaborating with different departments. These roles are typically designed for recent graduates or those new to the field, offering training and growth opportunities. Hybrid analysts may help with reporting, problem-solving, documentation, and recommending improvements. The combination of analytical and communication skills is essential for success in this position.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level hybrid analyst?

To thrive as an Entry Level Hybrid Analyst, you need strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business, finance, or information technology. Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL), business intelligence platforms, and basic project management software is typically required. Excellent communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills will help you effectively bridge technical and business functions. These skills are important because Hybrid Analysts often translate complex data into actionable insights, supporting informed decision-making and cross-functional collaboration.

What can I expect from the onboarding and training process as an entry level hybrid analyst?

As an Entry Level Hybrid Analyst, you can typically expect a structured onboarding process that introduces you to both the analytical tools and business processes you'll use daily. Training often includes mentorship from senior analysts, access to proprietary software, and participation in workshops designed to build your data analysis and communication skills. Software Developer I (Analyst)

Covenir

Worcester, MA • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 10 hours ago

Job description

Job Summary:
Covenir is a BPO partner to insurance carriers - and increasingly, a technology company that happens to serve them. The Platform is how that shows up day to day: modules spanning Print, Call Center, Virtual Mailroom, and Premium & Lockbox, built with an AI-assisted, 80/20 development model where AI handles the first draft and people handle the judgment. Software Developer I (Analyst) is an entry-level, hybrid seat on that team - combining foundational development work with the data and reporting responsibilities of an analyst. It's designed as a growth path: the skills you build here lead toward either Software Developer II or Data Analyst, and the R&D Manager will route your work across both as business needs evolve.
Job Description:
How Covenir's Values Show Up in This Role
  • Committed to WOW our Customers: Even small fixes and reports reach real people - Operations, carriers, teammates. You check your work like it's going to someone who's counting on it.
  • Great Just Isn't Good Enough: You don't stop at "it runs." You look at what you shipped and ask if there's a cleaner, faster, or more AI-assisted way you could have done it.
  • One Team, One Goal: You ask for help early and offer it just as fast - senior developers and the Data Analyst are your teammates, not just people to escalate to.
  • Passion for Excellence: You take pride in work that's genuinely yours, even at entry level - clean code, clear reports, and documentation someone else could actually follow.

What You'll Do
  • Build and fix small-to-medium features on The Platform in JavaScript/Node.js, C#, or an equivalent language, with guidance from senior developers
  • Write SQL queries for data extraction, basic reporting, and troubleshooting
  • Support basic reporting and data requests, bridging the gap between the Data Analyst and Software Developer II roles
  • Use Git/GitHub for version control on assigned work
  • Apply AI-assisted development and analysis tools as part of Covenir's 80/20 model - AI drafts, you refine and verify
  • Document your work clearly enough that a senior developer can review it without a walkthrough
  • Follow Agile sprint assignments, focusing on the most critical projects as set by the R&D Manager

Requirements
  • 0-2 years of software development experience, or equivalent coursework/project experience, with JavaScript/Node.js, C#, or a similar modern language
  • Basic working knowledge of SQL for data extraction and reporting
  • Working knowledge of Azure cloud services (Container Apps, Blob Storage) as used on The Platform
  • Basic familiarity with Git/GitHub or another version control system
  • Basic understanding of authentication and access frameworks (Auth0, two-factor authentication, role-based access control)
  • Fundamental knowledge of insurance BPO business processes across Print, Call Center, Virtual Mailroom, and Premium & Lockbox
  • Fundamental knowledge of The Platform's architecture, its core modules, and the AI/API sandbox, or a fast willingness to learn them during onboarding
  • Comfort using AI-assisted development or analysis tools, or willingness to learn quickly
  • Ability to create clear, concise documentation of assigned work, with review from senior team members
  • Completes structured onboarding across Platform modules, plus data security and confidentiality training for handling customer data
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the R&D Manager in support of Covenir's broader business needs

What an A Player Looks Like
  • Coachable by default. A players take feedback from senior developers without getting defensive, and you can see the change in their next pull request.
  • Comfortable saying "I don't know yet". Entry-level doesn't mean guessing. A players escalate to senior developers or the Data Analyst instead of quietly shipping something they're not sure about.
  • Curious across both disciplines. This role bridges development and analysis. A players lean into both, instead of quietly avoiding the half they like less.
  • Reliable on the basics. Clean commits, clear status updates, work that shows up on time. The fundamentals matter more here than heroics.
  • Growing on purpose. A players treat this as a launchpad, actively building toward Developer II or Data Analyst rather than coasting at entry level.

Is This Role for You?
Strong fit
  • New to professional development, with foundational
  • knowledge of JavaScript/Node.js, C#, or SQL
  • Genuinely wants to grow into Software Developer II or
  • Data Analyst, not just "a coding job"
  • Comfortable asking questions and taking direction
  • from senior developers
  • Interested in both hands-on development and
  • data/reporting work

Skip this role if
  • You want to work fully independently with no oversight
  • You're only interested in development and have no interest in data or reporting work
  • You're not open to feedback or code review
  • You need a narrowly defined, single-lane role rather than a hybrid one
