Job description

Title: Hedge Fund Analyst (Entry-Level) – Career Launch AI Talent Network
Location: New York, NY or Greenwich, CT (Onsite/Hybrid, varies by fund)
Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Typically $150,000 – $225,000+ total compensation (varies by fund)

About This Role
This is a representative Hedge Fund Analyst opportunity from the Career Launch AI members-only job board, showcasing the type of front-office investing roles we help candidates access.

If you’re obsessed with markets, equity research, macro, and fundamentals — this is the kind of role that puts you on the buy side early in your career.

About the Opportunity
A multi-strategy hedge fund (similar to others in our network) is seeking a junior Hedge Fund Analyst to support fundamental research, modeling, and idea generation across equities and possibly other asset classes.

You will work closely with senior analysts and portfolio managers, learning how to generate, structure, and defend investment ideas in a real money environment.

What You’ll Do Day-to-Day

Research & Idea Generation

  • Identify companies and sectors worth following using screens, news flow, and thematic research.

  • Perform deep fundamental analysis on public companies (business model, competition, management, industry structure).

  • Form hypotheses around catalysts, earnings, mispricings, or special situations.

Financial Modeling & Valuation

  • Build and maintain financial models (3-statement models, scenario analysis, DCFs, comparables, etc.).

  • Stress-test assumptions and model different scenarios around revenue, margin, and cash flow.

  • Evaluate risk/reward profiles and help inform position sizing.

Monitoring & Communication

  • Track company news, earnings calls, macro events, and sector trends.

  • Prepare written investment notes, internal memos, and trade rationales.

  • Present analyses and updates to senior team members, adjusting views as data changes.

Portfolio Support

  • Assist with risk monitoring, exposure tracking, and position attribution.

  • Collaborate on performance reviews: what worked, what didn’t, and why.

  • Help identify options, hedges, or pair trades as appropriate (depending on fund strategy).

Ideal Candidate Profile

Education & Technical Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.

  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills and comfort with numbers.

  • Proficiency in Excel; exposure to Python, R, or data tools is a plus.

Experience & Interests

  • Prior internships in equity research, hedge funds, asset management, investment banking, or S&T are highly valued.

  • Demonstrated interest in markets (investment club, personal investing, stock pitches, newsletters, Substack, etc.).

Personality & Mindset

  • You genuinely like following markets and reading about businesses.

  • You’re comfortable being wrong and updating your views with new information.

  • You thrive in high accountability, performance-driven environments.

  • You’re detail-oriented but can still see the big picture.
