Overview:

The KGI School of Pharmacy invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise in pharmacy informatics, healthcare management, or a closely related field. The position may be part-time or full-time, with the appointment percentage determined by the Dean or Provost based on the School's needs and the selected candidate's qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to innovative teaching, scholarship, and service. Responsibilities will include teaching at the KGI campus, mentoring students, serving on School of Pharmacy committees, and supporting student pharmacy organizations and leadership activities. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) was founded in 1997 as the first higher education institution in the United States dedicated exclusively to education and research related to the applied life sciences. Education and Experience:

Applicants must be graduates of an ACPE-accredited pharmacy program and either currently have or be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in California. Qualified candidates should hold a Doctor of Pharmacy or other terminal degree and have been in the field of pharmacy informatics or healthcare management for over 5 years.

Candidates with previous experience teaching Doctor of Pharmacy students, a track record of effective scholarship, and research interests that complement KGI's strengths will be given preference.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential function of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions may be performed, with or without, reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Creating, delivering, and assessing instruction and its effectiveness for student learning in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum, both in the classroom and at the designated practice site.

  • Develop and maintain a clinical practice at a designated practice site; precept students at that site and develop a program of research/scholarship as evidenced by professional presentations, publications, and/or grants.

  • Participate in faculty governance, contribute to the service needs of the Institute, serve on various committees, participate in the accreditation process, and participate in the co-curricular activities within the school.

  • Engaging in service to the profession and community.

  • Provide academic advising/mentoring for PharmD students and support their personal and professional development.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Hours, Classification, and Status:

This is a Faculty, exempt position that may be full-time or part-time. The appointment percentage will be determined by the Dean or Provost based on the needs of the School and the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Typical working hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.; however, teaching schedules will vary based on course assignments and the operational needs of the department or Institute.

Salary range: $117,000.00 to $171,600.00 annualized. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. Placement within the range is also contingent upon the academic rank of appointment, based on years of faculty experience, with the upper end of the range reserved for those appointed at the associate professor rank.

Ability to lift and carry short distances up to 20 lbs., for example to lift or move office supplies, files, books and packages.

Ability to travel locally as needed to meet business requirements, which may include driving or other modes of transportation. Occasionally, will be required to stand for prolonged periods of time at activities/events on and off campus.
