Your Role on the Team
Position Summary:
As directed by the UCI FQHC Governing Board of Directors, the incumbent is responsible for the overall management and fiscal oversight of the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) throughout UCI Medical Center. In coordination with the FQHC Governing Board of Directors, the Chief Ambulatory Officer and Physician Chairs, plans, organizes, directs, and manages the administrative and business operations of the FQHC clinics, ensuring compliance with grants and reporting requirements, budgets, policy, and patient satisfaction standards. Builds internal and external relationships, identifies community health needs and implements strategies by the health center to address such needs. Leads quality innovations to serve patients and improve quality of care.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required Qualifications:
  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible work experience in a leadership position in a medical practice setting, healthcare administration or closely related field.
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies, including planning, setting priorities, systematic performance assessment, implementation based on such assessment and maintaining achieved improvement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent understanding of healthcare finance, financial and analytical skills and ability to develop financial models using Excel, Access or other applications
  • Excellent strategic planning skills to develop long and short range goals and objectives
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning and change management principles
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Ability to work autonomously and use independent sound judgment
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the UC Irvine Health Affairs and work effectively with diverse stakeholders, especially physicians
  • Ability to accomplish results and effectively integrate functions with business plans. Consistently demonstrates and encourages a commitment to quality, customer-centeredness, productivity and continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Membership in MGMA or ACHE and ACMPE certification
  • Master's Degree in business, healthcare administration or a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • Experience in an academic medical center environment
