School Bus Driver

Gray Line Tennessee is Nashville's Leader in Transportation with over 250 vehicles in the fleet and over 300 employees dedicated to providing safe, authentic, and professional transportation services. We currently operate five distinct businesses, all of which are oriented toward safety, quality, and customer service.

Join our team as a School Bus Driver! One of our most popular drivers' positions due to its daily schedule, our School Bus Drivers keep safety their top priority as they transport children to and from school, on field trips, and other special travel.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to board and exit the bus and assist students boarding and exiting the bus.
  • Must be able to work with children and encourage positive behavior.
  • Must be able to work mornings and afternoons during the weekday.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English in order to communicate with coworkers, the general public, law enforcement and emergency personnel.
  • Maintain a clean bus and report any necessary repairs needed.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time, climb stairs multiple times each day, and tolerate a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Bring School bus to the shop for necessary repairs.
  • Being able to utilize technology required for the role.

Expectations and Policies:

  • Punctuality and daily attendance are critical.
  • Adherence to uniform/dress code policy.
  • Communication regarding route changes, absences, and incidents.
  • Zero-tolerance for drug/alcohol use on or off duty if impacting performance.
  • Candidates should be aware that buses are not equipped with air conditioning.

CDL School Applicants Must:

  • Obtain a CDL Permit prior to assigned start date.
  • Have a valid TN State Driver's License prior to assigned start date.
  • Be at least twenty‐five (25) years old by the assigned start date.
  • Understand, speak and read English.
  • Have no more than one (1) moving violation within the last three (3) years of driving.
  • Have no DWI or DUI conviction(s)
  • Pass a substance abuse and alcohol screen.
  • Pass state and federal criminal history background check.
  • *IT IS IMPORTANT TO DISCLOSE ANY RECORD THAT MAY APPEAR ON YOUR MOTOR VEHICLE RECORD WITHIN THE LAST 3 YEARS.
