General Description
Let us put you in the driver seat! Green Bay Metro is accepting applications for Bus Drivers. We are seeking individuals who are committed to safety and customer service to provide a vital service for our community. Paid CDL training provided!
Starting pay: $25.00/hour
Work schedule varies during Green Bay Metro's hours of operation. Monday-Friday, 5:15 a.m.-6:45 p.m. and Saturdays, 7:15 a.m.-1:45 p.m. 37.5 hours/week, plus additional hours as required. Bus Operators also work at varied times during the NFL season for Packer game day routes (Monday-Sunday).
No residency requirement.

Examples of Duties
Operates a variety of City buses on regular and limited services routes. Operates electronic farebox system to receive and check fares and determine appropriate fares. Provides transfers and accurate information regarding transfers. Provides information to passengers, answers questions. Operates Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL) system. Calls out streets at each stop in the absence of an AVL system. Maintains safety of and order among passengers. Assists passengers with disabilities onto bus with mechanical lift or ramp. Reads meter for passenger count and total. Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Completes daily DOT inspection report. Completes all necessary accident and injury reports as required. Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Five years driving experience.
  3. One year experience working directly with customers or members of the public.
  4. One year experience working with individuals with special needs.
  5. Must possess a valid driver's license with an excellent driving record and the ability to obtain a Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement within 30 days of hire.
  6. Must be able to obtain and maintain CDL Medical Card.

A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Good knowledge of DOT requirements pertaining to the operation of passenger vehicles. Considerable knowledge of appropriate state and local traffic regulations. Working knowledge in the operation of buses. Knowledge of City streets and landmarks.
Excellent driving skills, including during inclement weather. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work effectively with the broad spectrum of personalities encountered in the general public by the transit system. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public. Ability to work the required hours of the position.
May be required to demonstrate minimum competency by successfully passing approved tests.
