The orientation is designed for new graduate RNs who are looking for an entry-level nursing position. Shifts will vary and may change based on assignment.
All new graduate RNs will be automatically enrolled in a one year Nurse Residency Program that is designed to support the transition from academia to professional nursing practice. The program focus is on nursing leadership, quality outcomes, and the professional role.
Responsibilities
The New Graduate Inpatient RN to ED Bridge Program will provide nurses with an interest in working in the Emergency Department an opportunity to begin their nursing career and grow their skill set on a Cardiac Telemetry unit on the Bridgeport campus. Upon completion of the nurse residency program on the Cardiac Telemetry Unit, and successfully demonstrating competence in practice for 12-18 months, the RN will then transfer to an 8-week accelerated transition program in the Emergency Department. The accelerated transition program cohorts will begin in the Winter of 2025/26 depending on the timing of the accelerated training program.
Shifts are assigned based on the needs of the hiring unit.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred. All newly hired Registered Nurses must have current BCLS certification or must obtain within one month of hire.
LICENSURE: CT State RN License eligible
