Entry Level Game Dev information

What are some common challenges faced by entry level game devs when working on collaborative projects?

Entry-level game developers often encounter challenges such as understanding the workflow between programmers, artists, and designers, and adapting to fast-paced iteration cycles. Communication is key, as project requirements and priorities can shift quickly, requiring team members to stay flexible and proactive. Additionally, new developers may need time to familiarize themselves with version control systems and collaborative tools commonly used in the industry. Overcoming these challenges helps build essential teamwork and technical skills, paving the way for future career growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level game dev?

To thrive as an Entry Level Game Developer, you need a solid understanding of programming languages (such as C++ or C#), basic knowledge of game design principles, and often a relevant degree or portfolio. Familiarity with game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine, version control systems (e.g., Git), and sometimes certifications in game development are typically expected. Creativity, teamwork, adaptability, and strong problem-solving skills help you excel in collaborative and fast-paced environments. These skills and qualities are crucial for turning creative ideas into playable games while efficiently contributing to a development team.

What is an entry level game dev?

Entry level game developers are professionals who are new to the game development industry and typically have less than two years of experience. They work on tasks such as coding simple game features, fixing bugs, or assisting with art and design under the supervision of senior developers. These positions are ideal for recent graduates or individuals who have completed relevant courses or bootcamps. Entry level game developers often collaborate with teams to learn best practices and gain hands-on experience in creating video games.

How to get a job in entry level game development with no experience?

Entry level game development roles often require a strong foundation in programming languages like C++ or C#, and familiarity with game engines such as Unity or Unreal. Building a portfolio with personal projects, participating in game jams, and gaining basic knowledge of design and scripting can improve chances; internships or apprenticeships also provide valuable experience for beginners.

Zeelo is on a mission to transform the way frontline workers and employers connect with reliable, sustainable, and affordable commuter transportation. We partner with global leaders like Amazon, Barclays, and UPS, and we're rapidly expanding across the US after a successful Series B raise.
If you are looking for an entry-level sales role in a fast-paced SaaS and mobility tech company where your grit translates directly into career growth, Zeelo is your launchpad.
Why this role is exciting:
As a Business Development Representative (BDR) at Zeelo, you'll be at the engine of our US growth. You won't just be "cold calling"-you'll be helping build the foundation for our sales success and shaping how we scale in a brand-new market.

What you'll do:
  • Drive pipeline growth by making smart, targeted outbound approaches via phone, email, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
  • Qualify inbound leads through consultative conversations and book meetings for our Account Executives
  • Utilize the latest Sales Enablement tools and research techniques to identify and engage key decision-makers within target enterprise accounts.
  • Maintain an accurate and "sharp" CRM (HubSpot) to track engagement and optimize your sales funnel
  • Partner with Marketing to refine account-based marketing (ABM) campaigns and provide feedback to Product teams based on market insights.

What we're looking for:
  • Persistence & grit - You are a resilient Sales Professional who thrives in a target-driven environment.
  • Effective communication skills - You can articulate complex value propositions to diverse audiences across various industries.
  • Coachability -You are curious, ask smart questions, and have a "student of the game" mentality
  • Competitive Drive - Whether in sports or sales, you have a proven track record of hitting and exceeding goals.
  • Collaborative spirit - You enjoy being part of a high-energy, global team of over 130 people across the US, UK, and Spain.

Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000 base, OTE $70,000-$80,000 with commissions (uncapped)
Why Zeelo:
  • High-growth opportunity: Join at a pivotal moment in our US expansion
  • Mission-driven work: Every commute we power helps reduce COโ‚‚ emissions and makes work more accessible especially in areas with limited public transport
  • Global exposure: Be part of a 130+ person team across the US, UK, and Spain
  • Best-in-class tech: Our platform is redefining how organizations move their people

This is your chance to step into sales at a company where the work you do matters-to employers, employees, and the environment.
