Ready to build modern Equities trading platforms across user interface, backend, and cloud?

Why HSBC

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world. Guided by our purpose of opening up a world of opportunity, our ambition is to become the world’s most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.

The Opportunity

Join Cross Asset Financing Technology within HSBC Global Banking and Markets, a global technology team building sales and trading systems for Stock Borrow Loan, Equity Swaps, and hedge fund servicing. This role focuses on end-to-end engineering across front end, backend, databases, and cloud infrastructure to deliver scalable, reliable platforms that enable the business to grow clients and revenue. You will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and engineers in a collaborative agile environment, taking work from inception through to production support. The team prioritizes automation, predictable quality, and continuous delivery. Success means delivering small, safe incremental changes to production while improving the resilience and sustainability of production services. You will also contribute to technology choices as tools and practices evolve including the use of artificial intelligence.

What you'll be doing

  • Build and enhance full-stack services across user interface, backend and databases for Equities and Cross Asset Financing platforms
  • Deliver features through the full delivery lifecycle including inception, development, testing, release, and ongoing maintenance
  • Partner with business stakeholders and architects to translate trading requirements into working software
  • Develop Java services deployed on Linux or cloud environments
  • Establish automated testing including unit and integration tests and maintain clear test plans and records
  • Maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines within a DevOps product or service team and improve engineering workflows
  • Own production quality by supporting incident identification, diagnosis, and resolution
  • Strengthen service resilience and sustainability and ensure recovery time objectives are met

What we're looking for

  • Having a strong understanding of Cross Asset Financing including Cash Prime Brokerage.
  • Bring strong Java development experience in building and supporting production-grade services
  • Apply hands-on experience working with software deployed on Linux or cloud platforms.
  • Use Google Cloud Platform services including BigQuery, Google Kubernetes Engine and Cloud Run in real engineering delivery
  • Work effectively across the full stack including backend services, user interface and databases as needed
  • Demonstrate experience with DevOps practices including continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automated testing in agile delivery
  • Show working knowledge of front-end web technologies such as HTML 5, JavaScript and React
  • Apply practical understanding of security and regulatory considerations such as data privacy, consent, and data residency
  • Use relational databases in production systems
  • Strong communication skills with experience supporting the Cross Asset Financing business.

Building reliable trading technology

If you would like to work on systems used daily across Equities and financing products, this role provides that opportunity. You will deliver incremental changes to production within a team that values collaboration, openness, and continuous improvement. The scope includes engineering delivery, automation, and operational ownership so you can see outcomes end to end. If this aligns with the work you want to do, we welcome your application.
