Job description

Piper Shores is Maine's premier nonprofit continuing care retirement community, offering Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing Care for residents with a person-centered approach to care and service.

Servers work in a variety of dining venues within the community and provide warm, attentive, and respectful dining service to residents. Servers ensure that residents have a pleasant experience while maintaining cleanliness, safety, and efficiency. Full or part-time schedules are available with no late nights. Up to $22/hour for qualified candidates (this is not a tipped position). $500 sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet residents and guests warmly and respectfully; build relationships that support person-centered values.
  • Take meal orders in a courteous, accurate, and timely manner, honoring resident preferences and dietary requirements.
  • Serve food and beverages in an appealing and sanitary manner, checking for proper portion control and presentation.
  • Participate in meal preparation, service and clean-up.
  • Assists with vegetable, fruit, salad or side preparation. Prepares and serves non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Support residents in meaningful ways beyond the dining room, when appropriate, including participation in special events or activities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe dining environment; follow sanitation and infection control protocols.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements:

  • Customer service and food service experience preferred; will provide training to entry-level or student workers.
  • Warm and friendly demeanor with a positive approach to interacting with Seniors and co-workers. Courtesy, tact, and graciousness required.
  • Time management and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for most of the workday.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. independently
  • Must be able to push and pull tray/bus/transport carts weighing up to 50 lbs. independently
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and balance frequently throughout the work day.
