Job description

NOVA Engineering is seeking an Entry-level Structural Staff Engineer to join our Forensics Engineering group in Buford, GA. The primary work mix for this Structural Engineer position includes the following: evaluating distressed structures, building envelope evaluation, performing materials sampling and nondestructive testing, structural analysis, modeling, designing repairs, report preparation and project management. Projects typically range in size from $10,000 to 2 million in construction costs.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Field investigations and structural assessments of existing buildings and structures
  • Perform and prepare structural calculations
  • Analysis, Design and Documentation of building structures
  • Prepare complete construction drawings with plans, sections and details
  • Performing construction administration services (Shop Drawings, RFIs, and field visits)
  • Management of projects from start to finish
  • Prepare engineering reports

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, or an equivalent
  • EIT Certification or ability to pass Fundamental of Engineering (FE) exam within 3 months of start date
  • Strong Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; proficiency in Revit is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of building codes: IBC & IRC

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Structural or Materials Engineering is preferred (not required)
