POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

 The Financial Analyst will serve as a key member of the finance team, responsible for a broad range of financial and analytical functions. This role includes analyzing financial statements, performing general ledger reviews, developing and maintaining financial models, and evaluating journal entries for accuracy and compliance. The Analyst will also review contracts and grants to ensure appropriate utilization of funds, assess budgets and financial performance, and apply a strong understanding of cost allocation methodologies. In addition, the role will support various special projects and provide analytical insights to inform strategic and operational decision-making.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Analyze financial statements to assess organizational performance and identify trends
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support program and operational analysis
  • Review general ledger activity to ensure compliance with allowable and permissible costs
  • Evaluate contracts and grants to ensure proper utilization of funds and adherence to guidelines
  • Support month-end close processes, including reconciliations and reporting
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation
  • Assess and recommend appropriate cost allocations and methodologies
  • Provide support for budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Participate in finance department planning, meetings, and training sessions as required
  • Utilize advanced skills in AI tools, business intelligence (BI) platforms, and Microsoft Excel for analysis and reporting
  • Collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment
  • Perform additional related duties and special projects as assigned

 JOB REQUIREMENTS

  •  Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Experience developing financial models or working with modeling software
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts state agency contracts, federal grants, EOHHS, and third-party billing processes
  • Knowledge of funding methodologies, including unit rate, accommodation rate, and cost reimbursement models
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement recommendations that enhance financial operations
  • Solid understanding of forecasting principles and financial planning techniques
  • Proven track record of identifying opportunities to maximize revenue and reduce costs
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in financial analysis or a related field
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage responsibilities independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and strong decision-making skills
  • Effective collaborator with the ability to work well in a team environment
