Entry Level Fly In Fly Out Mining information

What is an entry level fly in fly out mining job?

Entry level fly in fly out (FIFO) mining jobs are positions within the mining industry that do not require previous experience and involve traveling to remote sites for work, usually on a roster such as two weeks on and one week off. Workers are flown to and from the mine site, where accommodation and meals are typically provided. Common entry-level roles include utility worker, kitchen hand, general laborer, or trainee operator. These jobs provide a pathway into the mining sector and often offer competitive pay and training opportunities. FIFO roles require adaptability to remote environments and long shifts, but can be rewarding for those seeking to start a career in mining.

What are common challenges faced by entry level fly in fly out (FIFO) mining workers, and how can they be managed?

Entry-level FIFO mining workers often face challenges such as adjusting to long shifts, remote work locations, and being away from family for extended periods. Managing these challenges involves developing strong time management and self-care routines, staying connected with loved ones through regular communication, and participating in on-site social activities or support programs. Many mining companies also offer resources such as mental health services and organized recreational activities to help workers maintain a healthy work-life balance and adjust to the unique FIFO lifestyle.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level fly in fly out (FIFO) mining worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level FIFO Mining Worker, you typically need a high school diploma, good physical fitness, and the ability to follow safety protocols. Familiarity with mining equipment, basic first aid certification, and understanding of site safety systems are often required. Strong work ethic, adaptability to remote environments, and effective teamwork are vital soft skills in this role. These abilities ensure safe, efficient operations and help individuals adapt to the unique demands of remote, shift-based mining work.

Job description

Overview

A sweet down-to-earth family in Greenwich is seeking two ROTA nannies for their two boys, ages 7 and 2. The schedule for the nannies will be one week on/one week off, with general hours of Monday through Friday 7am-7pm, and a few hours as needed during the weekend (but with availability for travel or overnights during the \"on\" shift). The family is open to live-in or live-out for this role, if a candidate lives locally and is open to staying over if needed during the \"on\" rotation. If the nanny chooses to stay in the provided accommodations during their \"on\" shift, they should live close enough to return home during their \"off\" shift. The family will not pay for fly in/out. The family plans to have another child in the future, so nannies should have experience with infants as young as 3 months and must be able to handle three children of various ages simultaneously.

  • Willing to travel as needed both domestically and internationally
Qualifications
  • Loving, warm, and engaging with children
  • Friendly, with a positive attitude
  • Able to act as a team with a work-from home parent, while also proactive and able to provide full charge care as needed
  • Provide structure and boundaries in a patient and child-centered way
  • Happy to work with a co-nanny, communicating as needed to provide continuity of care
Requirements
  • US work authorization
  • Willing to stay up to date on recommended vaccinations, including flu, Covid, TDap, MMR
  • Experience with infants through school-aged children, and with multiple children of varied ages
  • Driver's license and clean driving record (the family will provide a car for work use)
  • Ability to swim and supervise children in the water
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally
  • ROTA experience is NOT required for this role!
Salary and Benefits
  • $100k annually for the agreed-upon base ROTA schedule (26 weeks/year)
  • Overnight fee if overnight care is needed
