Saenz-Garcia Law, PLLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our growing immigration practice. This role is designed for both entry-level attorneys (Associate Attorney I) and more experienced practitioners (Associate Attorney II), offering structured training, mentorship, and progressive responsibility.
The Associate Attorney will provide high-quality legal representation in both affirmative (USCIS) and defensive (EOIR) immigration matters. This position involves managing a dedicated caseload, developing strong litigation and advocacy skills, and gradually transitioning to the independent handling of complex cases under the supervision of a Senior Attorney and/or Managing Attorney.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct legal representation and advocacy for clients before USCIS and EOIR.
  • Manage a caseload of affirmative and defensive immigration matters, ranging from routine to complex cases.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies tailored to each client's immigration situation.
  • Prepare, draft, and file immigration petitions, applications, and motions, including but not limited to asylum, cancellation of removal, waivers, and adjustment of status.
  • Appear as lead counsel at court and agency proceedings, including Master Calendar Hearings, Individual Hearings, bond hearings, and USCIS interviews, with increasing independence.
  • Draft legal arguments, affidavits, motions, and responses to RFEs and NOIDs.
  • Conduct legal research to support case strategy and litigation decisions.
  • Stay current on changes in immigration law, USCIS policies, EOIR procedures, and relevant case law.
  • Collaborate closely with Senior and Managing Attorneys on complex or high-stakes matters.
  • Mentor and guide paralegals and legal assistants on case preparation and procedural requirements (required for Associate Attorney II).

Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in immigration law, including USCIS and/or EOIR proceedings.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a legal team.
  • Spanish fluency preferred (oral and written), but not required.
  • Prior experience mentoring support staff is a plus (required for Associate Attorney II).
