We're growing and seeking a Service Technician to join our service team at our Birmingham, AL branch. We are seeking a self-starter, who is willing to learn and develop a career, while helping us serve our customers in Central and North Alabama and Mississippi. Our technicians work on the repair of aerial lifts and telescopic ladder systems, high output pumps and flow systems, electrical and hydraulic systems, structural weldments, drivetrain and suspension systems, annual service and inspections, welding and fabrication, and more!


Our technicians have backgrounds in heavy highway trucks, heavy equipment, material handling equipment, and automotive.

Requirements


YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on fire apparatus and related equipment.
  • Provide pump testing for fire apparatus.
  • Repair or replace defective components, such as pumps, hoses, valves, and electrical systems.
  • Test and calibrate fire apparatus systems to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, fluid changes, and filter replacements.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, parts used, and equipment serviced.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in fire apparatus technology and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to optimize maintenance schedules and prioritize repairs.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during all repair and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including tools, equipment, and service vehicles.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:

  • Passion about the mission of Sunbelt Fire, our core values, and serving those who save and protect lives
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferably, minimum of 1-year relevant experience in heavy truck or emergency vehicle repair.
  • Basic understanding of automotive systems and components, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and braking systems.
  • Knowledge of fire apparatus systems, including pumps, hoses, valves, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems, preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documenting work performed and parts used.

POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Monday-Friday with opportunity for overtime. Overnight stays to be expected depending on job location.
