Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking an entry level Fire Suppression Technician to support fire protection operations at NASA's Johnson Space Center. This role involves inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire suppression systems in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with a variety of fire protection systems and a strong commitment to safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire suppression systems across the Johnson Space Center
  • Ensure proper functionality of system components and prevent unwanted activations
  • Conduct preventive maintenance procedures on all assigned systems
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and repairs
  • Respond to service calls and troubleshoot system issues
  • Comply with all applicable codes, standards, and contract requirements
  • Stay current with training on all systems maintained under the contract
  • Coordinate with NASA personnel and government representatives to ensure system readiness

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Preferred to be trained in the functional operations of each system assigned, including components and preventive maintenance procedures, but not required as training will be part of on-the-job-training as well
  • Strong understanding of fire protection codes and safety standards preferred
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills


Note: Due to security requirements, this position requires US Citizenship or Legal Resident Status and the ability to successfully complete a federal background investigation.

8-hour shift Mon-Fri

Work Location: In person at Johnson Space Center

Pay: $22.21 / hour
