Your Opportunity at SECURE

Our Switch Person is responsible for day-to-day duties related to metals recycling and rail yard operations and need to complete work in a safe fashion while maintaining a clean work site.

This position is based out of Edmonton, AB

The Team

This is an entry level position with growth opportunities.  

Work Environment

This is a full time Monday to Friday position working 7:00am to 4:00pm.  Overtime and Saturdays as required.

A Day in The Life
  • Ensure all SECURE safety policies and procedures are followed
  • Partake in all safety related meetings including daily tail gates, last minute risk assessment, etc.
  • Execute rail traffic coordination and rail car movements
  • Must have an understanding of all power and small tools
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment
  • Clean, lubricate and fuel all equipment and general site housekeeping
  • Ensure safety fences / markings are all in place
  • Notify supervisor and or repair shop of any required work to be done
  • Basic comprehension and ability to follow SECURE's Workplace Health and Safety requirements relevant to the assigned work site, including but not limited to SECURE's "Stop & Think Process" and SECURE's "Hazard Assessment Process"
  • Ability to complete safety documentation in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, shoveling, moving containers and other heavy materials

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience operating Heavy Equipment, preferred
  • Experience with metals is an asset
  • Experience operating a loader and a zoom boom is required
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to persevere through difficult weather conditions, challenging work site environments, and long demanding work days
  • Ability to manage weather and/or seasonal interruptions in work schedule
