Who We Are
BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAIN ELECTRIC MEMBERSHIP CORPORATION
What You'll Do
As a Fiber Optic Technician, you will support reliable broadband service for member locations by completing field installations, service work, and technical troubleshooting to established quality and safety standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Install and service fiber optic, broadband, Ethernet, and telephone systems, including CPE setup
- Route and secure cabling, perform basic fiber splicing tasks, and complete required testing (OTDR, light source/power meter)
- Diagnose connectivity issues, document work performed, and maintain accurate technical records
- Operate and care for assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment; assist with bucket truck or trenching equipment as qualified
- Manage materials and inventory used on jobs; maintain professional member communication
Required qualifications/skills:
- High school diploma/GED; entry-level experience welcomed
- Valid driver's license; CDL eligibility and strong safety mindset
- Physical stamina for outdoor work, lifting, and field conditions
