About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
This is a full-time, on-site position beginning in Akron, Ohio but may move to Brecksville, Ohio in the future.
Summary
Detail-oriented and analytical Financial Analyst to support Transmission Finance VP with a focus on accounting, auditing, regulatory compliance, and financial analytics. This role will play a critical part in ensuring financial integrity, supporting regulatory requirements, and delivering insights to inform business and leadership decisions. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to analyze and communicate complex financial information.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Prepare and deliver financial analyses and executive-level presentations related to accounting results, audit outcomes, and regulatory activities
  • Support internal and external audit processes, including coordination of requests, documentation, and issue resolution
  • Assist in regulatory reporting and filings, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards (e.g., FERC, state regulatory bodies)
  • Analyze financial data, trends, and performance metrics to identify risks, variances, and opportunities
  • Support maintenance and enhancement of internal controls and compliance processes (including SOX, where applicable)
  • Partner with accounting, regulatory, compliance, and operational teams to drive alignment and execution of key initiatives
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency, transparency, and control effectiveness

Qualifications Include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required, Advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years professional work experience required, energy industry experience a plus
  • General knowledge of financial statement analysis
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Word
  • Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results, and strengthen existing relationships
  • Desire to continue to learn, grow and work across FirstEnergy and deliver results
  • Excellent analytical abilities
  • Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Proficiency with SAP preferred
