Behavior Therapist
Do you want to make a difference in a child's life?
Are you looking for a fun and engaging way to spend your time? Do you want to work with awesome kids facing some learning and behavioral challenges? Is working for a non-profit agency important to you? If your answer is Yes! then we want you on our Faces therapy team.
PACE (Pacific Autism Center for Education) is looking for entry-level or experienced behavior therapists for our Faces program which offers 1:1 (ABA) behavioral therapy to children 18 months and older primarily in our Clinic and/or limited time in the child's home. Under the direction of a Clinical Supervisor, (BCBA), Behavior Therapists utilize the science of Applied Behavior Analysis to work on social, communication and play skills, as well as behavior management with children. We want to meet you if you are interested in working part time or full time Mon-Fri, and you meet the following requirements:
  • Have enthusiasm for and experience working with children
  • Have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, prefer a AA or Bachelors' degree
  • Are available afternoons, Monday-Friday (We require at least 3 days/week of availability)
  • Are able to pass a DOJ and FBI fingerprinting process and have a physical and TB test prior to the first day of work. (We will arrange this after a job offer has been made.)
  • Salary range $23-26/hour - If you have a current RBT, the starting rate is $25/hour after verification. (Lesser rate until RBT)

Requirements
Knowledge, Skill and Experience
The candidate must possess the following minimum requirements for consideration for the Behavior Therapist position:
  • Education A minimum of a high school diploma or GED; Associates Degree (A.A.), with one to two years of related experience or B.A. preferred in related field such as psychology, behavior or child development.
  • Certifications RBT or BCaBA preferred
  • Experience Experience working with children who have challenging behaviors and developmental disabilities preferred but not required.
  • Communication Skills This job requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to be playful, creative, energetic and enthusiastic. Strong writing skills required to document treatment sessions.
  • Organizational Skills - Strong organizational skills with the ability to read and implement written treatment directions and collect numeric data.
  • Technical Skills The completion of training competencies and a period of supervision hours as established by the Clinical Supervisors is required.
  • Medical Must have a clear physical health and TB test prior to employment and routinely during employment as required
  • Clearance Must possess and maintain a clear DOJ (Department of Justice), FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) clearance prior to and during employment
  • Driver Preferred that candidate possess a valid California drivers license with a good driving record, proof of insurance, and access to an automobile to travel to and from therapy sessions (up to a maximum of 10 miles) and to the clinic for training sessions and meetings. PACE offers mileage reimbursement and paid drive time.
  • Must be willing to assist with toileting for the child or be trained to do so.
  • Physical: Must be able to lift 30 lbs. with assistance.
    • Ability to physically bend, squat, reach over shoulders and head, kneel, sit, walk quickly on normal or uneven surfaces and stand. May require typing, or use of a computer.
