Who We Are:
r.World provides award-winning, turnkey reusable cup systems for live events, fighting the climate crisis by eliminating billions of single-use items. Since 1990, we have led environmental action across 70 cities, 30 U.S. states, and 12 countries.
Role:
Support the venue’s sustainability efforts by operating waste-sorting stations and recovering reusable cups that would otherwise be discarded. We are seeking enthusiastic, highly organized, dependable event specialists to join our team in San Francisco, CA for Portola Music Festival. This role is ideal for entry level and experienced candidates and will report to the Festival Manager.
What You’ll Do:
- Set up and/or break down waste stations throughout the venue, which may include up to 200 stations per event
- Load, unload, transport, and organize equipment and materials from trucks and storage areas
- Install, remove, and preserve marketing and educational materials at bars and waste stations
- Assist with event operations and adapt to changing priorities as directed by the Festival Manager
- Collaborate with venue staff, vendors, and other third-party partners in a professional manner
- Represent r.World positively and professionally at all times
Who You Are:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout a shift
- Comfortable with extensive walking, lifting, bending, and physical labor
- Able to follow directions closely and work efficiently in a fast-paced event environment
- Flexible, dependable, and willing to assist wherever needed
- Be a positive representative of r.World and maintain a professional, respectful attitude toward all guests, staff, vendors, and partners.
Compensation:
- $25.00 per hour, up to 10 hours maximum unless otherwise approved in writing by the Festival Manager.
Location:
- Pier 80. 401 Cesar Chavez St, San Francisco, CA 94124.
Parking:
- There is no general or staff parking available at Pier 80.
- Public transit: The SFMTA recommends taking the Muni T Third Line (exiting at Third/ Marin) or local bus routes like the 48 or 19.
- Shuttles: Free event shuttles typically run from 24th Street Mission BART station directly to Pier 80.
- Parking alternatives: Use apps like SpotHero for independent parking lots nearby.
- This is Frisco baby! Please do not leave any personal items in your car. Not even an aux cord. There is a high risk of break-in's. Be smart and don't be the victim of a smash and grab.
Uniform: Get ready to get dirty!
- Comfy shoes that you can stand / walk in for up to 10 hours
- Lightweight clothes and a hat. Recommending long sleeves/ pants to help prevent sunburn
- Hats are ok a long as they are family appropriate
- r.World to provide hi-visibility vests that MUST be worn on site and returned post-shift
- Nitrile gloves will be provided; however, team members are encouraged to bring their own work gloves if preferred
