Job Title: Epic Specialist Date Revised: July 16, 2026

Reports to: Clinical Systems Manager

Job Summary: The Epic Specialist is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, optimization, and support of clinical applications and health information systems across the organization. The Epic Specialist works closely with clinical staff, quality teams, IT, and vendors to ensure that systems are effectively integrated into clinical workflows, meet regulatory standards, and support high-quality patient care.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Serve as the primary contact and application expert for clinical systems, including Epic.
  • Provide frontline support to clinical users, including troubleshooting, issue resolution, and escalation as needed.
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain training for new hires and existing staff on clinical systems usage, workflows, and updates.
  • Assist with system configuration, clinical workflow design, and optimization to align with operational goals and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate and perform user acceptance testing (UAT) for system upgrades, patches, and new implementations.
  • Maintain knowledge of clinical documentation standards, regulatory requirements (e.g., UDS, HEDIS, HRSA), and industry best practices.
  • Assist employees with password resets, account unlocks, multi-factor authentication (MFA) support, and user access requests in accordance with organizational security policies.
  • Provide entry level technical support and education as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills/Abilities
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare delivery models.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, clinical software applications, system configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead training, manage projects, and facilitate multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to identify and maintain confidential material

Education
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in health information technology, Nursing, Healthcare Administration, related field, or equivalent experience preferred.

Related Work Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience supporting Epic
  • Epic certification preferred
