OVERVIEW
Vertex Resources Services Inc. is currently accepting applications for an Environmental Field Technician to work in Carlsbad, New Mexico. The successful candidate will bring with them an understanding of basic practical fieldwork experience, report writing, strong communications skills, and project coordination. The Environmental Field Technician will assist our environmental team in conducting environmental projects primarily within the oil and gas industry across North America.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, rangeland science, natural resources, biology, geology, or closely related field. Geology and/or rangeland science are a strong asset.
  • Understanding of the environmental consulting industry.
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas industry is advantageous.
  • Experience working outdoors and in an office setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable environmental and energy sector regulations, standards, and codes.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word & Excel).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willing and able to travel.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide technical field support on environmental projects within the energy industry of the United States. Project types include but are not limited to:
  • Spill Response
  • Site Assessment and Characterization
  • Remediation
  • Reclamation (Vegetation Surveys and Reporting)
  • Environmental Planning & Permitting
  • Regulatory Submissions
  • Environmental Monitoring & Inspection
  • Water Well & Groundwater Assessments
  • Drilling Services (Drilling Waste & Well Abandonment)
  • Air Services

Provide field level technician support including:
  • Trimble or Equivalent GPS Utilization
  • Soil Sampling
  • Lab Analysis - Chain of Custody
  • Water Sampling or Abatement Activities
  • Time Management and Utilization
  • Strong/professional written and verbal communications with project managers and clients.
  • Oversight of contractors as a PIC (Person in Charge) on site.
  • Responsible for both field and office execution of environmental projects with an emphasis on field work.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
