Job description

Description
Department: Equipment
Reports to: Equipment Superintendent
Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
The Opportunity
You don't need decades of experience. You need the drive to learn, the discipline to work safely, and the pride to do the job right.
Alpha Inc. is looking for an Entry Level Mechanic who wants more than just a job turning wrenches. This is an opportunity to learn the heavy equipment trade from experienced mechanics, build real-world skills, and become part of the crew that keeps Alpha moving.
You'll get hands-on experience with heavy machinery maintenance, hydraulic system care, preventive maintenance, entry-level repairs, equipment upkeep, and the tools of the trade.
We're not looking for someone who already knows everything.
We're looking for someone who wants to become damn good at what they do.
If you're mechanically inclined, dependable, safety-minded, willing to learn, and the kind of person who takes pride in leaving equipment better than you found it, keep reading.
About Alpha Inc.
Alpha Inc. is a locally owned Hawai?i company working across construction, drilling, energy, equipment, and infrastructure. We tackle demanding work that helps build and support the communities we call home.
And how we do the work matters just as much as the work itself.
Our three core values define what it means to be Alpha:
Leading with Heart - Show respect, support your crew, stay humble, and help create a safe and productive workplace.
Strength in Unity - Nobody succeeds alone. Work together, communicate, and have your crew's back.
Alpha Mentality - Take ownership. Solve problems. Bring the grit and discipline to get better every day.
You don't need a big title to live these values. You prove them by how you show up.
What You'll Do
As an Entry Level Mechanic, you'll work alongside experienced mechanics to help keep Alpha's heavy equipment safe, clean, maintained, and ready to work.
Learn the Trade - Hands-On
  • Assist experienced mechanics with general equipment maintenance.
  • Participate in entry-level repairs on on-road and off-road heavy equipment under supervision.
  • Develop hands-on knowledge of heavy machinery, hydraulic systems, tools, maintenance procedures, and equipment care.
  • Operate hand and power tools under the guidance of experienced mechanics.
Keep the Fleet Ready
  • Assist with preventive maintenance that helps keep equipment reliable and ready for the field.
  • Help maintain equipment cleanliness, appearance, and overall working condition.
  • Learn to spot issues and communicate them before small problems become bigger ones.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed.
Own Your Work Area
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Care for the tools, equipment, and resources entrusted to you.
  • Follow established procedures and instructions.
  • Take pride in doing the little things right - because around heavy equipment, the little things matter.
Put Safety First. Every Time.
  • Follow Alpha's safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Work carefully around heavy equipment, tools, and active maintenance operations.
  • Ask questions when you're unsure instead of guessing.
  • Help create an environment where everyone can do their job and go home safely.
Be Ready to Step Up
  • Work a flexible schedule as needed to support equipment operations.
  • Pitch in where the team needs you.
  • Take on other duties as assigned.
  • Bring a learning mindset every day.
What You Bring
This is an entry-level opportunity, but entry-level doesn't mean low standards.
We're looking for someone with the potential and attitude to become an outstanding mechanic.
The Basics
  • Basic understanding of hand and power tools and how they are used.
  • General mechanical knowledge and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Willingness to listen, learn, follow instructions, and accept coaching.
  • Commitment to following safety standards.
  • Valid driver's license.

Heavy equipment experience is a plus, but it is not required.
The A-Player Difference
The person who thrives in this role isn't waiting for someone to constantly tell them what to do.
You show up ready.
You pay attention.
You ask good questions.
You take feedback and get better.
You respect the people teaching you.
You clean up after yourself.
And when you make a mistake, you own it, learn from it, and don't make the same mistake twice.
That's Alpha Mentality - and we can teach a motivated person a lot when they bring it.
Why Alpha?
Because learning a trade should lead somewhere.
At Alpha, you'll have the opportunity to work around experienced professionals and real heavy equipment while developing practical mechanical skills that can build the foundation for a long-term career.
You'll join a team that values:
  • Safety - doing the work the right way.
  • Craftsmanship - taking pride in what carries your name.
  • Growth - learning from people who know the trade.
  • Teamwork - succeeding together instead of chasing individual credit.
  • Accountability - owning your work and your development.

If you want easy, this probably isn't your shop.
If you want to learn, work hard, get your hands dirty, and build skills you can be proud of - welcome to Alpha.
