What this job involves - The Union Utility Engineer is an entry-level engineering position. The Union Utility Engineer will be assigned work under the direction of the Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineers or Stationary Engineers. This is an excellent opportunity to share your experience and expertise while learning valuable skills. This is a position attached to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between JLL and the International Union of Operating Engineers - Local 39.
Key Responsibilities
  • Repair restroom equipment such as toilets, soap dispenser & flushometers.
  • Repair registers and radiators.
  • Replace lamps and clean light fixtures.
  • Remove and replace ceiling tiles.
  • Complete minor repairs on furniture and floors.
  • Maintain and/or replace door hardware.
  • Repair floor maintenance equipment.
  • Complete maintenance painting in equipment rooms, cooling towers and other building facilities.
  • Replace air filters in the HVAC Equipment.
  • Perform general cleaning in mechanical spaces and perimeter induction units.
  • Clean equipment in engine room and shop.
  • Perform miscellaneous repair work require the limited use of hand tools.
  • Replace/inspect fire extinguishers.
  • General plumbing repairs and maintenance.
  • Clean air vents and roof drains.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Proper lifting of equipment, materials & tools up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to hear and see both audible and visual alarms. The ability to detect changes in noise levels of operating or rotating equipment while performing rounds. The ability to effectively use portable radios and cell phones as necessary.
  • Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, standing or sitting may be required in the performance of all duties, including the climbing of stairs and ladders.
  • Working in various positions such as on ladders or catwalks including working with hands above or below head and body.
  • Working outdoors sometimes exposed to inclement weather as most Plant Equipment and Building Infrastructure is located on the Ground and Rooftops.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience/Background
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) relevant work experience and/or trade school training.
  • Driver's license and clean driving record

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to problem solve down to the root cause.
  • Must be highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Personal Computers/PDA's/Smart Phones to operate within the Work Order System, Email and training.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Estimated compensation for this position:
83,428.00 - 83,428.80 USD per year
This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
