Career Area:
Technology, Digital and Data
Job Description:
Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.
When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do - but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here - we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.
Cat Digital is the digital and technology arm of Caterpillar Inc., leveraging the latest technologies to build industry leading digital solutions for our customers and dealers. With over 1.5 million connected assets worldwide, our teams use data, technology, advanced analytics, telematics, and AI capabilities to help our customers build a better, more sustainable world.
Job Summary:
As a Product Owner on the VisionLink team, you'll bring clarity and simplicity to one of the most underrated heroes of machine health: Fluid Analysis. You'll own the Caterpillar SOS(SM) workflow across VisionLink Web and Mobile, making it easy for customers to register samples, track progress, understand results, and take action before small issues turn into big repairs.
You'll partner closely with the Caterpillar SOS Business Team to keep VisionLink aligned with SOS program strategy, and collaborate with designers, engineers, and data experts to turn a complex, technical process into an intuitive, confidence-boosting experience.
If you love solving real-world problems and enjoy turning "this is complicated" into "wow, that was easy," this role will feel right at home.
What You Will Do:
  • Own the SOS fluid analysis workflow within VisionLink Web and Mobile, including sample registration, tracking, results interpretation, reporting, and recommended actions.
  • Translate customer workflows into clear, actionable features that guide engineering teams and deliver meaningful value.
  • Partner closely with the Caterpillar SOS Business Team to ensure VisionLink functionality aligns with SOS program requirements, terminology, and customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, UX, and data teams to design and deliver features that simplify complex processes and improve customer confidence in fluid analysis results.
  • Gather and consolidate feedback from customers, dealers, and field staff to refine workflows and identify new opportunities.
  • Identify and document issues and bugs, ensuring they are prioritized and resolved effectively.
  • Support Business Sign-Off (BSO) validations to ensure feature readiness for production release.
  • Champion customer experience by ensuring SOS workflows are intuitive, consistent, and optimized for both desktop and mobile use cases.

What You Will Have:
  • Business Analysis: Strong understanding of how to evaluate business needs, map workflows, and recommend solutions that deliver measurable value.
  • Decision Making & Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex situations, weigh tradeoffs, and make informed product decisions.
  • Effective Communication: Skilled at clearly conveying ideas, requirements, and decisions across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Workflow & Process Understanding: Ability to break down multi-step operational processes and translate them into intuitive digital experiences.

Considerations For Top Candidates:
We're looking for someone who's ready to level up, not entry-level, but not yet leading the charge solo. To stand out, you should be able to demonstrate experience in:
  • Equipment Management: You are familiar with VisionLink (or other equipment management solutions), whether in product, support, dealer operations, or customer workflows.
  • Fluid Analysis & Condition Monitoring: Experience with SOS, fluid sampling programs, machine health diagnostics, or condition monitoring systems.
  • Machine Health or Maintenance Workflows: You understand how customers manage equipment health, interpret diagnostic results, and make maintenance decisions.

If you've got a few wins under your belt and are excited to tackle real-world challenges in fleet compliance, we'd love to hear from you - especially if you've ever said, "There's got to be a better way to do this," and then built it.
Additional Information:
This position will have the option to be based out of our Chicago, IL; Peoria, IL or Denver, CO offices.
