Job description

Apparel Technical Design Assistant

Monrovia, CA | Full-Time | Non-Exempt

Join the Helsi Team

Helsi is a women's contemporary special occasion brand creating statement dresses for life's most memorable moments. From dimensional florals and intricate beadwork to sequins, embroidery, and distinctive details, we create pieces designed to make an impact.

We’re looking for an Apparel Technical Design Assistant to join our growing Product Development & Technical Design team.

About the Role

This is an entry-level opportunity for someone passionate about fashion and interested in building a career in Apparel Technical Design.

You’ll work alongside our Technical Design and Product Development teams and gain hands-on experience throughout the product development process—from samples and measurements to fit, revisions, and production.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with tech packs, specification sheets, and measurement charts

• Prepare samples for fittings and document fit comments for factories

• Update technical specifications based on fit and construction changes

• Track samples and maintain organized sample records

• Maintain accurate technical files and product information

• Collaborate with Technical Design, Production, Design, and Merchandising

• Support daily Technical Design projects and special projects as needed

What We’re Looking For

• 0–2 years of apparel, technical design, product development, or related experience

• Fashion school graduates and relevant internships are welcome

• Strong interest in fashion, garment construction, and technical design

• Basic understanding of garment construction, apparel terminology, and fit

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

• Comfortable working with Excel, Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft Office

• Strong communication and follow-through

• Team-oriented attitude and willingness to learn

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced apparel environment

Nice to Have

• Degree or coursework in Fashion Design, Apparel Product Development or Technical Design

• Experience with women's dresses or special occasion apparel

• Experience with tech packs or PLM systems

• Basic sewing or patternmaking knowledge

• Experience working with overseas factories or apparel vendors

Why Helsi?

At Helsi, you’ll get hands-on experience developing real product in a growing fashion company. You’ll work closely with experienced Technical Design and Product Development professionals and learn how a garment moves from design concept to finished product.

If you’re detail-oriented, curious, passionate about fashion, and ready to start building your career in Technical Design, we’d love to meet you.

Apply today and grow with Helsi.
