Job description

POSITION SUMMARY 

Responsible for processing, funding, and quality control of loan applications.  Ensure that proper loan information is collected to maintain acceptable credit standards and to conform to credit union policy.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  1. Represent the credit union to members in a courteous, professional manner.  Provide prompt, efficient, and accurate service in processing transactions. 
  1. Communicate with members via phone, text, email, or video chat to gather the items necessary to close the loan (i.e. verification of income, employment, payoffs, etc.). 
  1. Check loan file for accuracy and completeness and prepare loan for documentation processing. 
  1. Create loan documents and any other supporting documentation that may be required. Send loan documents for signing. 
  1. Set closing appointments with a branch employee if it is needed. 
  1. Disburse funds as is required by loan type and departmental procedures. 
  1. Set up automatic payments per member’s drafting preference.  
  1. Responsible for issuing GAP and MRC policies.  
  1. Ensure all documents have been signed and communicate with member and sales team if loan documents have expired. 
  1. Perform quality control/quality assurance on loan packets to prevent errors or deviations from specifications, ensuring that all files meet guidelines and policy standards. 
  1. Work with Loan Support to ensure lien is perfected on collateralized loans. Print and package titling documents as needed. 
  1. Set up and fund new deposit accounts generated by the sales team. 
  1. Responsible for sending out initial HELOC disclosures. 
  1. Work applicable help desk tickets for the cancellation/addition of ancillary products.
  1. Maintain working knowledge of automated computer software including the core system, loan origination system (LOS), and other specific product software. 
  1. Maintain knowledge of and comply with regulatory requirements such as the Bank Secrecy Act and security protocols as it relates to this position. 
  1. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

-           Ability to read and write.

-           Ability to count and deal with numbers and details effectively.

-           Ability to deal effectively with people at all levels, orally, in writing, or by phone.

-           Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate orally, in writing, and by phone.

-           Ability to deal with members effectively (friendliness, tact and diplomacy).

-           Ability to learn, apply, and communicate knowledge of policies and procedures of the loan department.

-           Ability to learn, apply, and communicate knowledge of credit union products and services.

-           Ability to coordinate, process and analyze lending documentation and decisions.

-           Ability to make sound decisions on issues and justify them.

-           Ability to work independently and with little supervision.

-           Ability to input and retrieve data from computer.

-           Ability to use a calculator.

-           Ability to type quickly and accurately.

-           Ability to compose letters and memorandums.

-           Ability to use and learn office machines (i.e., copier, fax, terminals).

-           Ability to use the automated loan application software.

-           Proficient PC skills

-           Ability to obtain and maintain a Louisiana credit license and NMLS ID. 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma or equivalent.  Two years lending-related experience in a financial institution or a college degree preferred.
