Position SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Electric Motor Winder to join our team. This role focuses on the rewinding and electrical repair of electric motors, generators, and other electro-mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise, a strong eye for detail, and takes pride in producing high-quality workmanship. This is an opportunity to work in a well-equipped, process-driven shop where craftsmanship is valued.Our shop is EASA accredited, and we use EASA Redesign software, which reflects our commitment to quality, engineering precision, and continuous improvement.Electric Motor Winder – Multiple Locations (Onsite)LocationsSalt Lake City, UTDetroit, MIKalamazoo, MILexington, KYWheeling, WVSavannah, GAColumbus, NEHartford Region, CTKey ResponsibilitiesRewind a variety of electro-mechanical equipment, including:Three-phase AC motors (random and form wound)DC fields and armaturesWound rotors, alternators, and transformersRecord winding data, take accurate measurements, and document winding characteristicsPerform proper insulating and varnishing techniques, including VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) processesOperate and interpret results from specialized testing and winding equipment, such as:Surge testers, core-loss testers, winding machines, and bake/burnout ovensConduct electrical diagnostics and core testing throughout the rewinding processEnsure all work meets EASA and internal quality standardsAssist in mentoring junior personnel and contributing to a collaborative team environmentQualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or GED requiredExperience: Minimum 2 years in electric motor rewinding (3-5+ years strongly preferred)Experience under a Class A or B Winder is a plusCertifications: Valid Driver's License required; CDL and DOT health card preferredPreferred: Experience in an EASA-accredited shop or familiarity with EASA best practicesSkills and CompetenciesStrong knowledge of electric motor theory, components, and winding designProficient in reading technical drawings, schematics, and following documented proceduresAble to use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools accuratelyComfortable using work order systems on computers or tabletsCapable of analyzing winding failures and suggesting redesigns as neededDetail-oriented with a commitment to safety, precision, and high standardsPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs regularlyAbility to stand, walk, reach, twist, and perform repetitive hand/arm tasksGood vision and hand-eye coordination for detailed electrical workWillingness to work in a typical shop environment with exposure to noise, rotating equipment, and various temperaturesWorking ConditionsWork is performed in a clean, organized, and ventilated motor shopStandard daytime hours with occasional overtime or weekend work based on project demandPerformance MetricsQuality and conformance of completed motor work to customer and EASA standardsEfficiency and timeliness of job completionAccuracy of documentation and data recordingAdherence to shop safety and cleanliness standardsContribution to team training and process improvementIf you're a driven and detail-oriented motor winder looking to grow in a quality-focused, EASA-accredited environment - we'd love to talk to you.
