Job description

TMD Electric Meter Technician

Under the general direction of the Electric Meter Installation Project Manager, the Electric Meter Technician will be exchanging residential class electric meters.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Will exchange residential class electric meters
  2. Use a work order management system to capture site data
  3. Maintain accurate records of work completed
  4. Oversee the materials, equipment, vehicle and tools
  5. Keep track of new and used inventory
  6. Recording of addresses, GPS, and meter information
  7. Verification of proper installation/transmission of new meter data by utilizing tablet PC, handheld equipment or smartphone
  8. Manages daily client communications, data and reporting
  9. Coordinates scheduling and meets quality / quantity requirements
  10. Provide for excellence in internal and external customer service by creating a positive experience for customers, end users and communities through professional and courteous behavior and producing high quality results
  11. Other duties and tasks as assigned or necessary

Requirements:

  • Must reside in the project area
  • Mechanical aptitude is necessary
  • Ability to use hand held device and other equipment as required for the position
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to stand on feet, bend or stoop for a prolonged period of time. The work is performed outdoors and through inclement weather as necessary
  • Ability to carry out duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Stable Multi-year Work History
  • Attention to Detail
  • Dependability
  • Previous electrical experience preferred but not required
  • Good Communication Skills (speaking, reading and writing)
  • Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have a minimum of 3 years of driving experience due to insurance requirements
  • Must have work boots
  • Must have own personal Smart phone
  • Additional Requirements: Background check clearance including drug screening and I-9 documentation as required by law
