Summary

The Epic Analyst 1 serves as an entry-level professional focused on learning, supporting, and assisting with the build, configuration, and testing of assigned Epic modules. This role is responsible for providing foundational support, including issue triage, ticket resolution, and documentation, while developing a deep understanding of clinical or operational workflows and Epic configuration standards. The Analyst 1 assists with well-defined tasks and small initiatives to ensure system stability and efficient clinical or revenue cycle operations.

Responsibilities

  • Foundational Build & Support: Assists with basic Epic build, configuration, and maintenance tasks under close supervision, following established standards and change control processes.
  • Issue Triage & Resolution: Serves as a first-line support contact for routine system issues; logs, tracks, and resolves basic tickets while escalating complex problems to senior analysts.
  • Testing & Validation: Participates in unit, integrated, and user acceptance testing (UAT) by executing structured test scripts and documenting outcomes for upgrades and enhancements.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Management: Creates and maintains accurate documentation of build decisions, support procedures, and job aids to support team knowledge and end-user education.
  • Operational Learning: Collaborates with clinical or operational stakeholders to gather information on workflows, developing the foundational knowledge required to translate requirements into system functionality.
  • Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
  • Perform all other tasks as assigned.
  • Assist with the basic configuration and maintenance of Beaker CP components, including lab tests, panels, result components, and reference ranges under direct supervision.
  • Support foundational clinical laboratory workflows such as specimen collection, lab processing, result entry, and basic reporting.
  • Participate in basic unit testing and assist senior analysts with integrated testing and the validation of laboratory instrument interfaces.
  • Maintain documentation according to established standards and learn to apply CAP, CLIA, and Joint Commission requirements to system build.

Generally requires 3 years or less experience in healthcare IT, clinical, or related field.

  • High School diploma is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred.

Epic certification in assigned specialty area is required.
