Summary:
  • Works as professional member of interdisciplinary treatment team in general hospital setting, providing case management and primarypsychotherapy with inpatients and partial hospital patients with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder from childhood and adolescence andthrough adulthood. Provides clinical leadership in treatment planning, patient care, and staff orientation/development.

Responsibilities:
  • ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • 1. Provides primary individual and family psychotherapy to patients in all phases of treatment, with broad age ranges (predominantly adolescents and young adults) and additional comorbid diagnoses. Is sensitive to and accommodates families' needs for sessions outside of usual business hours.
  • 2. Assessment and Treatment Planning
  • Completes all components of Psychosocial Assessment (if a licensed Social Worker), using data from patient, family, and treatment providers within designated time frame.
  • Coordinates the development and implementation of the multidisciplinary treatment plan and coordinates treatment plan reviews within established time frames.
  • Attends daily treatment rounds, providing input to and being receptive to input from other members of treatment team.
  • Demonstrates ability to use treatment team consensus in expeditiously adjusting treatment plans according to needs of patient.
  • Identifies significant changes in patients' clinical status and communicates to appropriate member(s) of treatment team.
  • Communicates effectively the essential clinical features of each case with utilization reviewers and monitors patient attendance in scheduled program and length of stay.
  • Coordinates discharge planning and communicates plan clearly to all relevant parties, including but not limited to patient, family, Utilization Reviewer, and outpatient treatment providers.
  • 3. Provides specialized psychotherapy groups, psychoeducation groups and multifamily groups according to education and training.
  • 4. Assumes a leadership role among members of the psychotherapy staff:
  • Provides backup for supervising psychologist in the following areas:
  • Assign new cases to therapists.
  • Ensures coverage for all therapeutic activities.
  • Facilitates Therapy Staff Meeting.
  • Provides orientation for new staff members.
  • Models Culture of Excellence standards and sets expectation for teamwork among staff.
  • Participates on at least one department-level or PHCS-wide committee.
  • Provides mentoring to new psychotherapy staff.
  • 5. Coordinates the selection and training of bachelor's level interns and psychology practicum students, and provides ongoing orientation and
  • supervision of students as assigned.
  • 6. Group Curriculum Development
  • Helps Mental Health Associates identify appropriate activities for activity and leisure skills groups.
  • Provides clinical guidance to MHAs in the provision of group activities.
  • Ensures the development of appropriate curricula for psychoeducational groups and other psychotherapy program activities.
  • OTHER JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • 1. Documents all therapeutic interactions, significant contacts with patient/family/other providers, therapeutic goals, and other data in concise, readable format in the electronic medical record on a timely basis, in accordance with Policies and Procedures.
  • 2. Provides age-appropriate care as indicated by knowledge of the principle of growth and development over the lifespan, and ability to assess and interpret data relative to the patient's age. Possesses the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to meet patients' physical, psychological and social needs with those growth and development levels/patient populations served within the department.
  • 3. Supports customer service and performance improvement goals of the department and hospital
  • collaborates with other staff, within and outside the department, to develop means of enhancing patient care and service.
  • 4. Maintains all standards of confidentiality. Interacts professionally, respectfully and flexibly with patients, families and staff in performance of daily duties.
  • 5. Training and Education
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and in-services.
  • Complies with continuing education requirements of field and completes required annual competencies.
  • 6. Participates in program educational activities and marketing activities, such as:
  • Speaking engagements.
  • Writing professional articles.
  • Providing in-service education.
  • Cultivating new referral sources.
  • Attending conferences and bringing information back to program in the form of program development, in-service education, etc.
  • 7. Group Curriculum Development
  • Helps Mental Health Associates identify appropriate activities for activity and leisure skills groups.
  • Provides clinical guidance to MHAs in the provision of group activities.
  • Ensures the development of appropriate curricula for psychoeducational groups and other psychotherapy program activities.
  • 8. Participates in and supports Penn Medicine Princeton Health's Performance Improvement program, including patient satisfaction.
  • 9. To provide coverage for utilization management as needed or directed.
Credentials:
  • Licensed Clinical SW (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • Master of Arts or Science (Required)
  • Education Specialization: Social Work/Welfare Equivalent Experience: โ€ข "And Experience working in an inpatient setting.At least three years""experience in treating eating disorders at the master's degree level or higher." โ€ข Have a customer service orientation.

Salary Range:
$67,594.18 - $107,840.93/Annually based on 40 hours per week
