This position is open to applicants local to Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC only. Applicant must reside within reasonable commute to the Duke Energy facility. The exact location will be determined at the time of offer based on business needs.
Position Summary
  • Responsible for all reporting and data analysis activities for supply chain and work management functions.

  • Ability to obtain financial and supply chain data from various applications using Enterprise reporting tools such as Microsoft Reporting Services.

  • Develop, design, and maintain Power BI solutions including interactive dashboards, paginated reports, data models, automated workflows, and advanced analytics to support data-driven decision making across the organization.

  • Interpret data based on understanding of business transactions/activities; and draw conclusions about data patterns and supply chain effectiveness.

  • Write queries for data mining and synthesizing large datasets using SQL, Python, R Studio, SAS or equivalent. Work with external consultants and suppliers on data analysis and development of data management applications in support of supply chain activities.

  • Specify, design, and prepare reports in support of supply chain activities. Provide technical and functional knowledge of business processes and systems to ensure efficient design, development, implementation, and support of data management applications and reports related to supply chain and work management functions.

  • This position's primary responsibility is to serve as data owner for Grid Analytics, Supply Chain and Work/Asset Management functions the design, analysis, and report development. Duties of this position also include the consultation with users to specify/design/develop new reports, measures data, and data structures to support the Grid Analytics, Supply Chain and Work/Asset Management functions. Prepare dashboard reports for supply chain management and business unit management. This position provides direction and approval of data management structures, tables, and universes to the technology application and architecture support team(s).

Responsibilities
  • Extract key observations and insights from internal and external data sources to support decision-making

  • Create ad-hoc reports to support end-user business requirements

  • Data exploration, cleansing, validation and testing in order to optimize processes and discover value

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, business partners, colleagues, developers, and business analysts to deliver high quality value-adding analytics solutions

  • Performs opportunity analysis on supply chain and work management data to identify potential planning, sourcing, spend, inventory management, and supplier improvements

  • Support in the development and maintenance of automated applications, tools and processes

  • Recommendation, creation, modification, documentation, and approval of application data mart settings and functional specifications

Required/Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or

  • Bachelors degree in Physics or

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology or

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration

  • 3 years related work experience

Desired Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional and/or Certified Public Accountant

Demonstrated understanding of business functions and ability to discern impact of request/problem on the business
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of organization
Advanced query writing skills for data mining and synthesizing large datasets using SQL, Python, R Studio, SAS, or equivalent.
Demonstrated strong analytical skills and a strong intellectual curiosity for numbers.
Demonstrated problem solving, decision making and attention to detail skills
Strong understanding of and ability to use programming languages (e.g. SQL, Python, SAS, R, etc.)
Experience using data visualization tools such as Power Bi
Supply Chain experience preferred:
Experience with data management / warehouse applications
Previous experience in supply chain strategy and/or analytics groups
Previous experience in business process reengineering
Strong knowledge of basic and advanced prediction models.
Data mining knowledge that spans a range of disciplines.
Strong exploratory analysis skills.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to relate them to the products or services the company is producing.

Working Conditions

Hybrid - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to their designated Duke Energy facility.
