Lead Restoration Technician

Location: Houston, TX

We're looking for a driven, high-energy, field-savvy Lead Technician who can be our boots on the ground. This is a key early hire and not an entry-level position. You’ll be working closely with management and have a real opportunity to shape the future of our company and grow with it from day one.

  • As a Lead Restoration Technician, you will play a crucial role in helping clients recover from disasters by restoring their property to its original condition.

What You’ll Do

  • Effectively perform all restoration services the company offers (Water, Mold, Smoke/Odor/Fire, Bio/Trauma, Storm damage restoration), per IICRC standards and RestoPros protocols
  • Assess damage and determine the best methods for restoration while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Conduct job sketching and estimating in Xactimate.
  • Develop moisture maps, drying logs, and accurate documentation for every job, including work orders and final work inspection.
  • Execute mold remediation procedures, adhering to all safety regulations. 
  • Effectively communicate safety hazards, job site findings, equipment, and tool requirements for the worksite with supervisors.
  • Ensure job sites are left clean, safe, and organized.
  • Maintain job site equipment, cleanliness, and readiness — including truck, warehouse, tools, and supplies' inventory.
  • On Call 24x7
  • Demolition & Containment: Building critical containment chambers for mold isolation, and safely perform controlled demolition (removing damaged drywall, flooring, and debris).

  • Equipment Setup: Load, unload, and set up specialized restoration equipment, including air scrubbers, commercial dehumidifiers, and axial air movers.

  • Detailed Cleaning: Clean and sanitize structures and personal contents affected by smoke, soot, fire, or mold growth.

  • Safety Enforcement: Strictly adhere to safety protocols, ensuring proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including respirators and safety suits when working in hazardous environments.

Customer & Insurance Communication

  • Walk customers through the restoration process and secure signed documentation (work authorization, COS, etc.).
  • Maintain open and clear communication with clients, addressing their concerns and explaining the restoration process.
  • Handle communication professionally.
  • Represent RestoPros with 5-star customer service — on every single job.

Team Leadership & Operations

  • Lead and supervise junior technicians and helpers.
  • Ensure work is done to high standards.
  • Oversee daily schedules, progress tracking, and job inspections.
  • Participate in briefing meetings with leadership and take ownership of field outcomes.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 2+ years in water mitigation, restoration, or similar field roles. Experience with mold, bio, smoke, odor and fire damage restoration.
  • Experience in residential and commercial construction, especially mitigation and contents processes.
  • Proven ability to deliver top-tier customer service and earn client trust.
  • Experience in in-home sales, inspections, writing estiamtes, handling payments and collections, getting 5-star reviews.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and personal accountability.
  • Willingness to be on-call, work overtime when needed, and 24/7 emergency on-call rotations, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Previous experience in restoration, construction, or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Comfortable with physical work: lifting 50–100 lbs, working in crawlspaces, attics, ladders, ceiling heights, and confined spaces

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Xactimate and digital job documentation (photos, logs, apps).
  • IICRC Certification (WRT, ASD, AMRT) and TDLR Mold Worker license.
  • Experience leading field teams.
  • Tech-savvy and capable of using field software systems and mobile devices (MICA, Mitigate, Encircle)
