Position Summary
The Commercial Door & Hardware Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and timely quotations for commercial architectural hardware, hollow metal doors, frames, and related components while supporting customer relationships and internal project execution.
This role serves as a critical link between customers, sales, operations, and project teams by evaluating plans and specifications, preparing detailed takeoffs, offering value-engineered solutions, and ensuring sold projects are executed accurately and efficiently.
Success in this role requires technical product knowledge, urgency, ownership, strong communication, and alignment with Door Controls USA's Core Values. This is an on-site role designed to foster collaboration, accountability, and leadership by example.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Quotation Management
  • Review architectural plans, specifications, and project requirements to perform accurate hardware and hollow metal takeoffs.
  • Prepare detailed quotations, proposals, and scope clarifications.
  • Deliver small to mid-sized quote requests within established turnaround expectations (target: 24 hours or less when applicable).
  • Develop detailed submittals and provide value-engineered alternatives or substitutions where appropriate.
  • Maintain quote logs, proposal statuses.

Project Coordination & Execution
  • Manage job logs and sold project schedules from award through fulfillment.
  • Coordinate internally with project coordinator, purchasing, warehouse, and operations teams for successful order execution.
  • Support project changes, RFIs, and customer adjustments throughout project lifecycle.

Sales Support & Business Development
  • Support inbound sales opportunities.
  • Educate customers on Door Controls USA product offerings, services, and solutions.
  • Utilize Microsoft Teams, email, phone, and CRM to support customer communication and engagement.

Customer Relationship Management
  • Maintain accurate customer, quote, and project records in Software For Hardware.
  • Ensure all customer communications, opportunities, and project milestones are documented in required timelines.
  • Provide professional and responsive service that protects and strengthens customer relationships.
  • Identify customer barriers and proactively develop solutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing, and Operations to support project success.
  • Assist Technical Support and internal teams with product/application knowledge when needed.
  • Promote accountability, communication, and process discipline across departments.

Additional Duties
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support company growth and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications & Requirements
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial hollow metal, doors, frames, and architectural hardware.
  • Previous inside sales or estimating experience preferred.
  • Experience in project management or order coordination preferred.

Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of commercial door hardware applications, code requirements, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency with estimating software, ERP systems, and CRM systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and hardware schedules.
