Job description

Job Title: Die Prep Technician

Shift: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd

Job Summary: 

Reporting to the Linamar Production Supervisor & Team Leader, a Die Casting Technician assisting in keeping the Die Prep area in working order. 

Responsibility: 

  • Recommends measures to improve die prep processes, equipment performance and overall production quality. 
  • Prepares date screws, prep fill tubes, fills the tube carts, fills, checks the coat containers, cleans coating spray cans. 
  • Cleans and keeps the die prep area in order. 
  • Ensures ice blast machines are in working order. 
  • Understands that they are responsible for their own safety, as well as others working in the area. 
  • Observes and practices all lockout/tagout requirements. 
  • Observes machines and equipment for malfunction and adjusts or repairs as directed to ensure the equipment will operate at maximum efficiency, within operating parameters, safely and correctly. 
  • Tracks and documents productivity information accurately, as directed. 
  • Other duties as assigned may include operating a casting machine or assisting in die preps. 

Academic/Educational Requirements: 

  • High school Diploma or equivalent. 
     

Required Skills/Experience: 

  • Experience working in die prep or casting is preferred. 
  • Must be able to read and understand work instructions. 
  • Must be able to complete required paperwork and report out information utilizing Plex or another required format. 
  • Must be team oriented. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels. 
  • Must have the ability to problem solve and troubleshoot. 
  • Must have basic math skills - add, subtract, multiply, and divide. 
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude.
