SUMMARY: The Quality Assurance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring that food products meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This entry-level position supports the quality assurance team by conducting inspections, tests, and documentation throughout the production process.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine quality control inspections on raw materials, in-process items, and finished goods.
  • Conduct microbiological, chemical, and physical tests to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Monitor production processes for adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Foods (SQF) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
  • Record inspection results and maintain accurate logs of quality data.
  • Report deviations and non-conformances to the Quality Assurance Supervisor or Manager.
  • Assist in verifying supplier Certificates of Analysis (COAs), approved ingredient supplies, and other regulatory documentation.
  • Support internal audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and other applicable food safety regulations.
  • Maintain sanitation, monitor records and participate in swabbing and visual inspections.
  • Work closely with production staff to resolve quality issues.
  • Participate in training sessions on food safety and quality protocols.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality safety.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field (bachelorโ€™s degree a plus).
  • Minimum 1 year in a food manufacturing or quality control environment.
  • Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, SQF, and ISO 22000 standards is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Basic proficiency in laboratory equipment and data analysis.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
