These positions are suitable for recent graduates or those transitioning into data science and may involve internships or junior analyst roles to build experience.

Is 40 too late for data science?

Entry level data science roles are open to candidates of all ages, including those starting a career at 40 or older. Success depends on acquiring relevant skills such as programming, statistics, and data analysis, often through online courses or certifications, regardless of age.

What are entry level data science jobs?

Entry level data science jobs are positions designed for individuals who are starting their careers in the field of data science, often requiring minimal professional experience. These roles typically involve working with data collection, cleaning, and analysis, as well as assisting more senior data scientists with projects. Entry level data scientists are expected to have a foundational understanding of statistics, programming (often in Python or R), and basic machine learning concepts. They may work in various industries, helping organizations gain insights from data to support decision-making.

How do I become a data scientist with no experience?

To become an entry-level data scientist with no experience, focus on building foundational skills in programming (Python or R), statistics, and data analysis through online courses and tutorials. Gaining practical experience by working on personal projects, participating in competitions like Kaggle, and learning tools such as SQL and machine learning libraries can help demonstrate your abilities to employers.

What types of projects or tasks can I expect to work on as an entry-level data scientist?

As an entry-level data scientist, you'll typically work on tasks such as data cleaning, exploratory data analysis, and supporting the development of predictive models. Job description

Data Engineer

Customer Experience | Provo, UT | Full-Time | On-Site | $50,000 - $90,000 | Entry-Level / 0-2 Years

ABOUT ATONOM

Atonom.ai builds Cloud Employees: intelligent AI agents that execute complex work across Sales, Marketing, Support, and HR. We believe growth should be limited by ambition, not headcount. We move beyond simple automation to genuine autonomy, empowering businesses to scale instantly. Join us as we build the infrastructure for the next generation of work.

THE ROLE

As a Data Engineer, you'll work alongside senior team members to configure, deploy, and optimize AI Cloud Employees for our customers. This is a hands-on role where you'll learn quickly, work directly with clients, and see the impact of your work from day one. You don't need years of experience. You need curiosity, technical aptitude, and the drive to figure things out.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Build and maintain data integrations that power AI Cloud Employees for customers, connecting systems, mapping fields, and helping ensure data quality.
  • Join client calls to understand data environments, source systems, and business requirements, then help translate them into working data flows.
  • Troubleshoot data pipeline and integration issues with support from senior engineers. Trace data through systems and work toward solutions.
  • Document data architectures, integration patterns, and technical playbooks for the implementation team.
  • Share product feedback with Engineering and Product teams, including data handling limitations, schema gaps, and integration pain points.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Recent graduate (or soon to be) in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Self-taught candidates with relevant projects are also welcome.
  • Comfortable getting into the weeds with data. You've written queries, worked with APIs, or built something that involved moving data from one place to another.
  • Interested in LLMs and prompt engineering. You don't need to be an expert, but you understand the basics of how AI models consume and produce data.
  • A clear communicator who can explain data workflows and technical decisions to both engineers and non-technical clients.
  • Self-directed and low-ego. You ask good questions, take feedback well, and move fast in ambiguous situations.

YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS

  • Month 1: Learn the Atonom platform inside and out. Shadow senior team members on client calls and implementations. Get certified on internal tooling.
  • Month 2: Take ownership of your first customer implementations with senior support. Begin contributing to internal documentation and playbooks.
  • Month 3: Run implementations with increasing independence. Present learnings and customer pain points to the Product team.

TECHNICAL SKILLS (NICE TO HAVE)

  • Exposure to workflow automation tools (Zapier, Make, or similar).
  • Basic understanding of APIs, webhooks, or data integrations.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with CRMs like Salesforce or HubSpot.
  • Any hands-on project involving LLMs or prompt engineering (personal, academic, or professional).

WHY JOIN

  • Real AI work. Not research papers. Production agents that generate measurable ROI for real businesses.
  • Mentorship built in. Learn from experienced specialists who invest in your growth.
  • Career velocity. High-visibility role with clear paths toward Solutions Architecture, Product, or Team Leadership.
  • Impact from day one. Small team, fast shipping, your contributions matter immediately.

BENEFITS

  • PTO accrual starts on day one.
  • Competitive health benefits package.
  • Paid holidays and company events.
  • Competitive salary.
