Job description

Job Description
The mission of this position is to assist Church members in fulfilling their divinely appointed responsibility to discover their family history, submit names to the temple for saving ordinances, and help bring souls unto Christ.
This entry-level internship aims to train and evaluate new candidates' ability to handle the uncertainty, complexity, and detail involved in working with data privacy laws as applied to records used in family history research. Successful candidates will understand legal concepts, monitor compliance, systematize requirements for routine laws and policies, and create project tracking tools.
Responsibilities
  • The candidate will apply statutory rules to ensure family history record publication complies with applicable national and international laws and regulations.
  • The candidate will review and analyze large datasets in Excel.

Qualifications
  • The candidate must be currently enrolled in or have graduated from an accredited university within the past 12 months.
  • The candidate should possess a strong understanding of the various types of records used in family history research, as well as the content within those records.
  • The candidate should have a keen interest in learning and understanding legal language and statutory/regulatory nuances. Experience with data privacy rules is a plus.
  • The candidate must be exceptionally detail-oriented and enjoy conducting the research and analysis needed to accurately and thoroughly uncover the stories within the data.
  • The candidate should possess strong skills in managing large datasets in spreadsheets, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills and the ability to quickly identify issues within large data sets.
  • The candidate must have a natural ability to stay focused, with a strong sense of responsibility to ensure work is completed on time and to the highest standard.
  • The candidate should have a learning mindset, continuously seeking to increase their knowledge and understanding of relevant systems and processes.
  • The candidate must maintain a positive attitude when faced with changes, view problems as opportunities, and be open to learning.
