The Division of Tourism operates within the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs to help achieve the Governor's strategic priority of ensuring Nevada is recognized for its world-class destinations, its innovative and business-friendly economic environment, its quality of life, and its efficiently and effectively run state government.
In addition to managing state tourism efforts, the Division provides communities and businesses with development resources, training, and grant assistance that help bolster local economic bases and diversify regional economies. Essential Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a background in economics, data collection and reporting, and analytics experience with the following data collecting, processing, storing and visualization tools: Microsoft Excel Microsoft PowerPoint Microsoft Power BI Python Job Duties Oversees the development, coordination and administration of various Travel Nevada research surveys, data, projects and reports. Collects statewide visitor statistics and Travel Nevada data, including tabulation and analysis/interpretation.
Compiles information for the quarterly visitor statistics publication, Discover the Facts. Assists in development of research projects involving third party research firms (ad/marketing effectiveness, economic impact research/traveler spending, visitor study, web usability, ad/copy testing and brand research, etc.), including compiling resources needed for the study, testing any necessary surveys, development of key metrics / goals for the study that align with the organization's initiatives, overseeing study final reports and providing feedback or direction as needed, and drafting / overseeing Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation for research contracts. Assists in providing performance measures that are used to support the agency's biennial budget
Helps to develop in-house surveys including (but not limited to): o Website visitor experience/satisfaction surveys o Sales post-familiarization tour surveys o Hotel/motel occupancy surveys o Rural convention attendance o Post-conference surveys o Resident sentiment surveys o Destination development surveys Produces monthly reporting for Division executives to assess statewide tourism performance and key programmatic performance, including performance indicators for the Division's strategic plan.
