Job description

Milk Production Operator
Toft Dairy: 3717 Venice Road, Sandusky, OH 44870
Schedule: Monday-Tuesday, Thursday-Friday (Wednesdays and weekends off)
Hours: Early morning start between 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM. Shift typically ends between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM

The Milk Processing/Production Operator is responsible for supporting daily milk manufacturing operations through equipment operation, sanitation, and production tasks. This role works closely with team members to ensure production goals are met efficiently while maintaining compliance with OSHA, FDA, GMP, and company food safety and quality standards. The Operator plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and productive work environment.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor equipment used in the milk bottling and production process
  • Assist with production setup, start-up, and shutdown procedures
  • Ensure product quality, accuracy, and efficiency throughout production runs
  • Monitor equipment performance and learn basic troubleshooting techniques
  • Perform lifting and stacking of milk cases as needed
  • Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble production equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness of the production area (sweeping, mopping, rinsing, and sanitizing)
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures
  • Support daily production goals and timelines
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

  • Follow all OSHA safety requirements and company safety policies
  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations and food safety practices
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times
  • Immediately report safety concerns or equipment issues

Physical & Work Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during a 10-hour shift
  • Ability to push, pull, reach, and grasp throughout the workday
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
  • Basic math skills 

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous production or manufacturing experience
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a team environment

Preferred:

  • Experience in dairy, food, or beverage manufacturing
  • Experience working on a production line
  • Familiarity with food safety standards (GMP, HACCP)
