Description

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist I to support the Quality Assurance inspection team on the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) Safety and Mission Assurance Engineering Contract in Houston, TX.


This role supports Quality Assurance activities across multiple NASA programs, divisions, and projects by performing inspections to ensure compliance with specifications, procedures, and quality requirements.


Quality Assurance Specialists work closely with quality engineers, technicians, QA records clerks, and operations personnel to support field inspections, testing activities, documentation, and quality compliance efforts.


This is an entry-level to early-career quality role that provides hands-on exposure to technical inspection processes in a highly regulated environment.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform Quality Assurance inspections of electromechanical systems, subsystems, and components during fabrication, installation, assembly, testing, modification, or repair in accordance with established written instructions, specifications, and guidelines. 
  • Perform basic inspections to verify compliance with applicable requirements and specifications. 
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, and technical personnel to complete inspection assignments. 
  • Witness basic tests and test setups; document observations, record results, and support discrepancy documentation as required. 
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, company policies, and established procedures. 
  • Support safety, health, and environmental requirements; comply with all company and site safety policies and report safety concerns or violations to appropriate personnel. 
  • Participate in required training and on-the-job training (OJT) to become familiar with assigned hardware, equipment, functions, procedures, and work areas. 
  • Maintain flexibility in task assignments to support adequate Quality Assurance floor coverage. 
  • Maintain regular and dependable attendance. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications: 


Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal technical instructions. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Basic computer proficiency, including email and standard software applications. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate across disciplines. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, grasping, and lifting/pushing/pulling 20 lbs. or greater.

Desired:

  • Prior experience in inspection, quality assurance, manufacturing, production, testing, or another technical environment. 
  • Familiarity with electromechanical hardware, equipment, or technical processes. 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and procedures. 
  • Experience working in a regulated, industrial, aerospace, manufacturing, or high-reliability environment preferred.

 This position is expected to pay $21-$24 per hour commensurate with experience.Â
